push to talk serves no purpose except for business like fire departments and things of those nature. In my opinion who in their right mind as a normal consumer would want a walkie talkie, and have their conversation blasted all over the public?

Agreed, I used to work in construction and used push to talk all the time, but would never have one for my personal line (its just ridiculous).
