I am interested in purchasing the Audiovox SMT5600 Camera Phone and am wondering if reading an eBook on this devise is reasonable for this model. Has anyone tried to read an ebook and if so which software apps have you used/tried? Is the phone capable to read txt files on its own? Would i need to DL a smartphone app? Thanks.

I don't have experience with this particular model, but:
It's a Windows smartphone, so yes, it can read normal .txt-files (quite all smartphones can do that).
There are over 1500 free eBooks (and surprisingly there is a lot of good stuff like H.G. Wells "War of the Worlds" and many pocket dictionaries) and more to buy.
If you've got eBooks as PDF you can download a PDF viewer from the Adobe website.

The one problem with that phone and actually trying to read an e-book is the size of the screen.

The screen is small, but high contrast and high resolution for the size. A treo would be better in some repects, or a full fledged PDA.

I agree. The screen is a bit small for reading more than text messages.
