I use GPRS upgraded to 2.1.8 It recognizes all the 40 tones I have converted with PSMPlayer 5.0 I have an x427 and it works awesome. You must be doing someting wrong if it doesn't work. Remember, voice tones cannot be converted, only MIDI's.

I used PSMplay5.0 that u've posted here but my phone won't even play the tone after i converted the midi file to mmf, let alone adding the vibration and led effects. can some1 tell me exactly how to use that program?? ie tell me which option to choose, which box to check and what's the number next to vibration and led, etc??
thanks!!

I have just begin trying to use PSMPlayer. One problem that I am having is that the drums either don't play, or don't play right. Sometimes I hear no notes, other times, there's crashes and whistles and nothing else. There is nothing wrong with the MIDI file, they work fine my sequencer and MIDI player, but they don't play correctly in PSMPlayer.
I use soundlaster, and have switched midi output, but the same problem occurs no matter which output I use, so it must be a setting somewhere in the player.
Anyone have any ideas? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

download Yamaha's ATS-MA3-SMAF... it works better than PSMplay for me... u can still add vibration, led and change the instruments... easier to control how u want ur ringtone to sound i think
hope it'll help

I have tried to use Yamaha's ATA-MA2 and MA3. I believe they are made for Windows 2000 or XP. Unfortunately, I have Win98 (I know, a dinosaur) and the program simply won't work. It will create the SMAFs, but i can't hear them...the sound is awful...distorted, shaky, it hangs, etc.
Has anyone successfully used this program on Win98, and if so, were there any adjustments made to make it work?
TIA

PSMPlay does convert WAV to MMF if you use the 16 chord option rather than the 40. I took a test WAV that was 8 seconds long and converted it to 16 bit, mono, 8KHz and it converted just fine.
I wonder why you can't convert to 40 chord. Even the Yamaha converter doesn't do 40 chord.
