ive downloaded the PIM and file manager for the phone and ive got a USB-IRDA link, the computer recognises the phone and so does the program (after a little bit of fussing) but now when i try to upload a file to it, it starts but no transfer happens and then it just abruptly says connection closed, and the program is set to offline, ive tryed this several times and the phone does not move out of range,
any ideas?
thanks
Aaron

Not sure if it helps. I have experienced some link problem with my Nokia 6020 if I placed the phone too close to the IrDA adaptor. I found that it works better at a distance of like over 5 inches.

I think PIMS can only allow you to upload pictures from PC to phone or download photos taken by the camera from phone to PC. They are stored in different folders. You can't download pictures (wallpaper) from phone to PC nor can you upload photos from PC to phone's photo folder.
Pictures and photos are handled in File Manager. Expand My Phone and then open the folders you want.

yeh thats what i am doing, and when i expand my photos (taken by the phone) it displays the folder as empty same with video and the music folder.
it has however displayed the music folder once, by showing me the 2 standard songs that come with it, but like i say. only once

It sounds like the link is kind of intermittent which is not very good. Not sure if it is related to the speed or not. Usually IrDA is set at 4M maximum speed by default. You may consider limiting the maximum speed to 115200. Go to Device Manager and look for the driver for the IrDA Device, right click and select properties and then click on Advance and you should find Maximum Connect Rate, change the value to 115200. At the same time check the speed in PIMS setup and change it to 115200 as well.

maximum speed is 9600 which is the only possible setting,
maximum speed of the pims software is 110 because thats the only speed it will even recognise my phone at...

Doesn't sound right at all! Let's go over the whole thing. What is the setting that you used before when PIMS could see your phone? When it said offline, it means it can't recognize your phone probably due to wrong setting.
When you said 9600 maximum speed, it seems like it is a speed for serial port. Are you looking at the IrDA device? Can you attach a picture of Device Manager? As for PIMS, are you selecting IrDA or other port? Can you go back to the original state now?
