I bought black V3s for both my girlfriend and myself, decided to just get em from best buy (delaware no tax) cause everywhere on the net including ebay charges $50 for shipping plus required insurance. They were a little more expensive, but I got them to match the price and take off an extra 10% for our trouble (they tried to screw us on the pricematch saying the black version of the razr isnt the V3)...anyway
so now what? I just found this sweet forum and I am interested in unbranding my phone and tweaking a few things. How risky is it? Everywhere I read has FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK disclaimers everywhere. I dont want to end up with a dead phone.
What are some of the most common tweaks and mods?? Any ideas?

hmm im a lil interested in tweaking w/ my razr's system too. lolz i just bought mine today! some of the most common things u can mess around w/ is taking away the branding of hte phone, enable video recording (not if you have the tmobile razr). i have no idea how risky it actually is flashing the phone. but i dont really care because mine came w/ video recording. did you get the tmobile razr as well?

Well if you start to mod it then there is alway risk. Sample to change frimware(flash) or software (Flex) it very easy, find the right tool and the flash/flex file and apply to the fone, but there is always that possibility of power outage in midle of the flash that will damage your fone !!.
Best thing to do is read up in tutorial section and ask question befor you do it and you 'll be fine

Its pretty easy to flash/flex your phone, but like Old Fool said just make sure you read up on it first, for the love of god make sure you use the right flash/flex files and dont be afraid to ask questions. To flash you will need a copy of either: PST & Patch, RSD or RSD lite, smartmoto. We cannot give you a link to PST & Patch, RSD or RSD lite (in my opinion the best ones to use lol) but you can get smartmoto here: http://www.motoaide.com:8081/download.htm
There is also some flash files there but there is a better assortment here: www.motox.us

flashing and flexing voids my warranty though..correct? is there anyway to backup your phone and then unbrand it/flash it and then if it breaks RE-brand it and unflash it so you can have warranty work done?
and FYI-- I got the cingular branded and locked black V3

you can back you your contacts and even you flex using motokit. Basically the flex contains all the branding so if you need to revert back you could always just use the backup flex. Yes it voids warranty.
