hi again, i got my cable today (yeah, it took a bit longer than the 2-3 days that they said but nevermind!) and everythings working perfectly as far as i can see. so the problem must've just been a dodgy cable.
oh yeah and my phone does wake up and make a little bleeping noise when i plug it in with this cable. so i immediately knew it was working better.
