Hi im new to this site and wondering if i could get any help. I have an Nokia 6170 and can't get any reception, I did buy it second hand. I can't make txts or recieve calls or make calls. I push a button on the side and it comes up saying "no network found" or something like that. I am thinking it might be something to do with the antenna so im thinking of replacing it. I do have a torx screwdriver to unscrew the screws. However I would not know where to purchase an antenna. Any help would be much apprecaited thanks.

Did you've checked if a network is selected manually?

Well, if you've resetted the setting than the automatic network selection is selected.
I've just read the manual...

Could it be you're talking about the Push-To-Talk button?

Please typ in your phone *#0000* and tell me exactly what it says.
And please tell me your country.
I've got the feeling, you might have bought the US version of the phone...

Yes, this is a US phone...
It has GSM 850/1800/1900.
In New Zealand GSM 900/1800 are used.
Vodafone uses GSM 900.
That explains why you don't get a signal: the phone isn't capable to get one.

Well, it should be possible to flash a firmware of your region on the phone which should make it work.
But doing it on your own with no knowledge is
a) risky (you can screw up the phone)
b) not allowed (Nokia firmware isn't public domain)
Maybe you know somebody who is capable to do it or maybe the people of a Nokia Care Center can do it (but it's unlikely).
