I use another carrier but I'd really like to get a Sidekick 2. I was going to buy one on ebay but I've been told that there is limited use of its data functions.

Can someone tell me what I will lose if I use an unlocked SK2 on a different carrier?

You will have no data services. No email, no instant messenger, no download fun, etc. You will have voice services and txt msg only.

T-Mobile is the only carrier that is able to use the Danger browser and features other then the Voice/SMS like mpapple10 said, I would waste that kind of money on a Sidekick2 unless your going with T-Mobile... there is no point.

You can unlock a sidekick by calling t-mobile, or the phone's proper carrier.

No, verizons network is based of off cdma technology and tmobiles is gsm. They are not compatiable with each other.
