F3 is the latest firmware. E8 is the chinese version (V208). E5 is the one with JAVA.

Is upgrading your phone firmware illegal? I've never heard of such a law. Changing the IMEI could be illegal in some countries but upgrading the firmware is just like upgrading your PC operating system. what if you get arrested for upgrading your PC to Windows XP. icon_confused.gif

Upgrading firmwares can resolve certain problems in previous firmwares. It may enchance functionalities, battery life, signal, etc. Again it's almost the same as your PC operating system. You upgrade it to get better functions and solve problems. It's your own choice if you want to upgrade it. Either way you can still keep making calls icon_biggrin.gif

E8 is chinese, but can set it to english (i've had it on my phone, but the ringtones don't play on v200 because its for v208)

E5 is the latest as far as i know. Does not support JAVA

E5 modified version with JAVA support is somebodys updated version of E5, but not an official firmware.

E8 modified version with JAVA support is somebodys updated version of the v208 firmware.

Does E8 support changing it to English? Any difference in fuctions between E5 w/ JAVA and E8 w/ JAVA?

somebody mentioned Improving battery life by upgrading firmware, How is this then? icon_question.gif My battery life is poor and I avnt had the handset long. I have to wait until it is fully discharged before charging other wise it switches on and does not charge. (that normal)?
