Fella - chill out - remember the reason you have this problem is because you did not follow the instructions to set everything to silent before deleting ringtones.
However this is fixable - if you start panicking and doing your own thing you will end up wrecking your phone.
Get motokit from http://www.motox.info/showthread.php?t=1297

I figured it out.
After i deleted the 2 .db files=>Sounds(not ring styles !!!)=>picked a ringtone =>applied as ringtone=>Ring styles =>...detail.
Worked 4 me!

You need to go to the third menu item along, the bottom item then choose english.
But so long as you sorted!

I have. Does this clear overall memory on the phone, or are there seperate memory areas for each feature, i.e. memory allocated for photos, memory allocated for themes, memory allocated for contacts and address book, etc?
If it's just one big block, how do I check that one big block? If it's not one big blog I have ummm 3548 bytes total, according to the camera memory.
edit (damn i do a lot of these): can i uninstall all the AIM/Yahoo IM stuff, and later download a seperate AIM app and install it to the phone myself? I'd like to use AIM but I'm sure the default install of it on the V3 is bloated as all heck, and some of it may overlap with Yahoo, which i don't want AT ALL. so i'm not really sure what to get rid of as far as the IM stuff goes.
what're all the 1byte files in /a/mobile/audio/vavr? are these required? just look like clutter to me.
will deleting DL_DB_INET_RECORDS get rid of my MEdianet storefront icons completely? there *are* some cases where i will want to use MEdianet.
what're the *.bas files in /a/mobile/audio? probably gonna get rid of most of these tones and replace them with my own stuff i've edited/mixed myself. just curious. also, is there a database of free "default" style ringtones around? i'd like to have some of these kinds of tones around, i just don't like *anything* that the V3 comes with.
and again, is there a way to show the main memory bank on the WHOLE phone, or is it split up into parts for different features?
thanks guys for being so helpful for my last 3-4 days on here. i'm new and asking lots of questions (some may be dumb ones), and all of you have been nothing but nice and friendly. oh, and helpful. :p
unrelated, but i've asked a couple times with no reply: what's the difference between the V3, V3i, V3c, V3x, etc? how do you know which you have, and what are the advantages/disadvantages of each?

Blimey thats a lot of questions in one post.
1) Total memory is total memory available to the user i.e. after system files have been taken out of the physical memory. Therefore removing files marked as system increases total memory - but can obviously be dangerous if you remove something you need - only remove something you are explicitly told you can.
2) you can remove AIM then reflex later if you decide you do want it - that would probably be easiest - though you can get java IM apps
3) the files in the vavr folder are "placeholder" for voice activation / voice recordings - you can delete them but they will be recreated when you restart the phone
4) If in doubt keep the file - though you could make a backup, delete it. Then put it back if you don't like the result
5) They are for the motomixer app - if you don't use it make a backup then delete them - again you can put them back so long as you have a backup
6) Not that I know off - but you can use any mp3 you like pretty much so not sure why you need one
7) Think I've covered this
No problem
9) V3 is the bog standard GSM phone
V3i is an enhanced version with transflash slot, 1.3 Megapixel camera
V3c is CDMA and has a 1.3 Megapixel camera
V3x is GSM , 2 megapixel camera, different form factor and other extras

Sorry. The woes of being a n00b. I'll "get" it all soon and before you know it I'll be posting my own hacks!

I'm just gonna assume that the newest flash revision is bulkier than older ones and stored a whole hell of a lot more junk in my system folder then. 3.7-3.8 megs to work with according to the camera, and wherever else I'm able to find a "check free space" menu item, it'll give me something close to that. But some of them wildly vary. I hate technology sometimes.

I'll check around for both. A flex without Yahoo and a bunch of other crap I don't need, but includes AIM, and an alternate java IM app. Know of any well-tested and popular ones? I'm willing to pay for one if it's within reasonable price if it's able to clear a ton of clutter off my V3.

Ah hah! Thanks! Now I finally know that I have a plain ole' V3.
I have to personally thank you Mike for answering more or less all of my questions. Toss me an address and I'll send you some girl scout cookies (i'd bake them myself, but i'm lazy, and the girl scouts aren't). Mehehe.
