Use this tutorial at your own risk. This mod is not for beginners and can cause serious damage to your phone. I take no responsibiliy for any damaged done to your phone even if you follow my tutorial exactly.

Before starting, change all ring details to silent, no alarms setup and ringer id's are disabled, this is to prevent you from getting kicked to main menu when trying to access ringstyles menu (after deleting sounds from phone directory).

Alright so I have received quite a few emails and seen it posted a couple times since I updated my profile stating that I had over 10MB of memory on my V3 RAZR. Here is how I did it:

When I received my phone is had the 79R flash on it and flex SE8642BXXB7088. First thing that I did was update to the newest flash I knew of R374_G_0E.42.08R this brought the available memory from 5.5MB to 7.3MB. I didnt upgrade the flex at all because I was going to be debranding the phone anyways. Using P2kman I deleted the following files from my phone (ONLY AFTER BACKING THEM UP!)

/a/
DL_DB_INET_RECORDS - Gets rid of provider shop links
Scarlet.tcf - Icon for scarlet skin (dont delete if you want to keep this skin)
Silver.tcf - Icon for silver skin (dont delete if you want to keep this skin)
ss_scarlet)176x220~~ - more theme/skin graphics
wp_scarlet_176x220~~
Silver Skin Wallpaper 176x2~~
Silver Screen Saver 176x2~~
mib_op_greet
OICQBuddyDatabase - Assuming this has to do with IM (dont delete if you are going to use IM)

**Pretty much everything else in this folder needs to stay the way it is, I may have forgot some files, but basically everything that has to do with the IM and skins can go!... make sure that you DO NOT delete the moto theme skin stuff!!!**

/a/mobile/audio
Delete everything except:
funlight.pat
MyToneDB.db
TempToneDB.bd
six .bas files

**Leave Start~up.mp3 & Power~down.mp3 if you want them... I deleted these files as I dont care for Startup/Shutdown sounds**

/a/mobile/pictures
Delete Everything

/a/mobile/skins/Scarlet (If you want max space and dont care about skins)
Delete everything

/a/mobile/skins/Silver (If you want max space and dont care about skins)
Delete everything

/a/mobile/system
shutter1.amr
shutter2.amr
shutter3.amr
shutter4.amr
shutter5.amr
wvim.emoticons - for IM
wvim_emoticons_yahoo

**do not delete mma_ucp/mma_dcp (menu) files or the count_down files (or your timer for your camera will not work anymore)**

/a/mobile/wvim
Delete everything if you dont care about your IM

Also using P2kmenueditor I removed the IM graphic from the main menu and replaced it with the motomixer from the multimedia section because I had an extra icon after enabling the Video Camera. There are probably a couple other files I forgot about that I deleted but this is the bulk of it, pretty much leave everything in the /a/ folder alone unless I said delete, I didnt touch the following directories /a/mobile/audio/vavr, /a/mobile/certs, /a/mobile/mib, /a/mobile/kjava.

The files names on your phone will vary from the ones I have listed above because most people dont have the flex my phone came with but you get the idea of what you can and cannot delete.

With this tutorial you should easily be able to reach 9MB without breaking a sweat, anything more is just extra icon_biggrin.gif . By the end you will not have any sounds, pictures or videos. So start loading it full of your custom stuff! Enjoy!

I reached 10463KB!!! after alittle trial and error.

ok guys im a beginner at all of these. I wasnt even aware that all of this could be done. Since i am a beginner, i may ask questions that you guys might find dumb but bare with me as i am only a beginner in this. First of all, how do i get started doing all of this on my phone, like enabling video and increasing memory? What do i need? Ive been reading through the forum and i see "p2kman" alot, and "seems editing" also. What do i need to have in order to get started? And if i do need equipment, where can i get it? Like i said, im like the beginner of all beginners and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Your questions about how to enable video has been answered already, if you are a beginner I would stick to just deleting the stuff in /a/mobile/audio & /a/mobile/pictures to lessen any complications. Make sure that you make backups of everything that you delete and if you need more basic info on seem editing check out http://xlr8.us/hofo you can get most programs from http://www.motoaide.com:8081/download.htm

I check mine under the camera or the video camera.

Samsung....Another great one!! I hadn't flashed to .08R yet, but just did it and got 2M right off the bat. I have a talking phone, so some of the sounds I have to keep, but I am shooting for 9.5 when its all said and done. THanks again!!

No problem, 9.5 is a good goal if your not deleting all sounds, I want to hit 11MB but dont know if its possible while all the features are functioning lol.

I got a solid 9.2 after all was said and done. I still have the AIM stuff on there, and for some reason, I am not able to delete any of the sounds from my audio folder. When I delete them (even after I set everything to silent), when I go in to change my settings, it still kicks me out.
Any ideas?

got a quick question...just flashed the latest monster pack with video recording, which was way easy, and then right after doing that I followed this guide exactly in order to get more space

However, when i restarted the phone i had no menu items and pretty much a blank screen, other than my wallpaper. for exampe, there is usually a little icon in the start up screen when it tells you your greeting and phone number, mine wasn't there.

just to clarify,
1. flashed the phone
2. restarted the phone and it worked perfect
3. followed guide
4. restarted phone and no pics

any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated

**Edit**
Okay I found the error in my ways...i did not realize that the moto skin had to be kept (i dont care for it, i like silver better) so anyway i did the whole guide assuming i wanted to keep silver and get rid of moto. i fixed the problem my uploading the moto skin back to its place
