Hey
i read above on all the probs. people have been getting with connecting their samsung e730 to their PC....and i'm having similar problems but none of the solutions on the other thread have been working....please help
i recently bought a new pc (windows Xp home edition 2000) and don't have the cd that came with the phone originally and so i downloaded the software off the samsung website.....i installed the driver first (ignoring the warnings), then installed PIMS and PC Sync.....before opening the program PIMS....when i open it i keep getting the error message "cannot open port and device is set offline"....
i've tried un-installing everything and installing it again numerous times.....but nothing different is happening...
i can't get the pc to detect the hardware however anymore...so that i can select the driver to install with it.....does anyone know how i can get the pc to detect my phone as a new piece of hardware? i've tried restarting and turning everything off/on and installing/un-installing the drivers....but...any ideas pleeeaasse?
i've tried all the different speeds in PIMS....and i know it should be connecting to COM3 port, but it won't let me select it cos there isn't a drop down menu....
the phone isn't detected at all in Sync or PIMS...
plleeeaaassee help

also when i first plugged in the phone..the pc detected it as "WMC data/fax"...but when i go to select a location where teh drivers are, when it searches the folder (containing the drivers from the samsung website), it says that it couldn't install the hardware because it couldn't find the necessary software....

THE SOLUTION! I kid you not!
Hi Guys,
Okay - Here's the deal... I had this working at some point, so I knew it wasn't a hardware issue. But after a format, I redownloaded the files from the samsung homepage, so I figured it might be an issue with the 2.0 usb drivers. Well enough babbling - this is the solution to the problem (atleast for the shg-e730 people out there).
The solution: Download the 1.0 USB drivers and install. That should solve it. The thing is to get windows to accept the drivers... just use auto install and it should find em itself. Just remember to uninstall the 2.0 drivers first. Btw - Pims 2.0 is working fine with the 1.0 drivers. I hope this helps. Good luck.
Here's the link: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSit e=SFC_UA&CttFileID=384802&CDCttType=SW&ModelType=N&ModelName=SGH-X640& VPath=SW/200505/20050527172415828_USB_Driver.exe

I could not send or receive photos and videos using the samsung SGH-e730 because apparently t-mobile doesn't have the file to configure the phone? Could someone help me out? I called samsung and everything, but they couldn't help me at all.

hey i downloaded all the software and stuff, then i plugged in my sgh-e730 into the usb and instead of the normal low then high pitched do-do sound, it made a do-do-do sound but they were the same pitch and closer together, then my computer doesn't recognise the phone at all. what can i do?
