No reason anyone here would give you a hard time woops, you did the right thing. You researched the info and applied it. Sometimes people start losing patience here because others keep asking questions that are mostly just common sense if they just take a step back and think for a second, or that they proclaim things they know nothing about. Forums aren't the cure-all.
Unlike other forums like Hofo, this is more mellow.

I have been getting an unregistered sim for almost 1 year I have Cingular service And I had a motorola razor. It would go into unregistered sim at least once a day. Called Cingular they sent me a new razor (refurbished) and it did it they sent me another Motorola razor again it came up unregistered sim
The next time they sent me a Nokia 6102i guess what it did it too. On the next call they decided that I should receive a brand new phone not refurbished and it still does it. they did give me a work order and I will be following up on this but the only thing they know to do is to cycle the phone on and off and / or remove the battery and put back in.
They told me at Cingular that I am the only person with this problem so either they are lying or more people need to raise @#$%$# about it. If your phone is under a year old you can call the repair line and tell them about the problem. 800 331 0500. Just so you know the last 2 sim cards were replaced with the phones.
They asked me if I was under a metal roof a nice way to say a trailer but I live in a house with asphalt shingles and my phone does this at home and on the road. They won't check the towers until enough people scream! This is maddening! I pay for this service and I miss plenty of calls over it.

Their solution was to take it to a Cingular Phone store, and they would replace the sim card (for free). Today I googled "unregistered Sim", found this forum, "re-booted" both phones, and problem solved!, at least for now. Thanks for the advice |
My Razor and my daughters used to do that all the time and she always turned hers off at night. I have replaced my phone 5 times now changed simm cards etc etc and it still does it. I still think its a tower thing.

Have you tried to perhaps get a new sim card?

I am on my 3rd new sim card could it be possible that there is a problem with the sim cards and not the tower or the phone?

I'd say it may be a sim, but since you had tried 3 sims, new phones, I'd call in CC and have them file a network issue to get an engineer out and see what the problem is with the network.

I did that also I have a ticket # and no one ever bothered to call back. I have gone through 5 phones now 4 of which I had since march 3rd 2007 The latest one does it in places the other phones didn't do it in. so now I turn it off every night and turn it on in the morning and it doesn't do it as much. I have probably spent a minimum of 25 hours on the phone with Cingular since March 3rd. The newest issue is that when my daughters phone is turned off it somehow becomes my voice mail number. figure that one out. I havent had the time or the patients to deal with that yet.
