What do you have to pay when you're making a driver's license?

Here in Germany it's 1000 to 1500 Euro (1200 to 1800 US Dollar) and we have to wait till we're 18 (but we can buy and drink beer with 16 icon_biggrin.gif the stronger stuff can be bought when you're 18 icon_wink.gif)

No most states don't make you take a driving ed class. You read the state's driving handbook, practice driving and go to the dmv.

I think its $28 here in TN.

Here there are 12 driving lessons required, but normally you need 20-30... plus additional theory... and several theory-test and a driving test at the end...

And that's why I don't have a driver's license icon_biggrin.gif
Never hat the money for it... and never needed it... hey, I was never the driver at partys icon_angel.gif

And you've got automatic cars, we've got 98% cars with manual gears...

Damn, I'm in the wrong country...

Here where i live in canada, I got my learner's license at age 15, I had to have a legal guardian in the passenger's seat, and I wasnt allowed to drive at night. During that year we also got free driver's ED in school. I then took my driver's test (which i think cost 25$) and then I got my license.

It was realy easy too, you can choose where you want to take your driver test (provided they do driving tests there), so I took it in a town about 1/2 hr away with a population of about 1000 people, 3 lights and a railroad crossing were pretty much the only hazzards I had to deal with in the whole town.

Bjoern, dont sweat it about the Standard/Automatic situation. Standards are far superior to Automatics, they get better gas mileage, and are more reliable, and if you shift right you get better acceleration (why do you think all race cars are standards?). It took a while to get used to, but I hate driving Automatics now, you dont feel like your in as much controll of the car.
