When you load a ringtone via the filesystem tab there is a file /dload/ringtone.dat file. Right-click on ringtone.dat file and delete it. Then right-click on dload directory or any place that should pull up a list of options and select Reboot Phone. Basically the phone rebuilds the index.
As for the beta version it's available through links in the group. We're doing some testing right now and still has bugs so we don't want everyone in the world downloading it just yet so we can keep testing.

Thanks man! I actually found that information in my inbox... I received email from the yahoo! group that included the information about deleting the ringtone.dat file. Everything seems to be working now! Keep me updated with the new BitPim!

There is a link in the group to several places that we are placing the updated versions as bugs are fixed.

Do you think this tutorial would work with the VX9800 but with its cable/drivers?

My assumption would be YES. The filesystem is approximately the same. They are actually made by Qualcom. It was the same assumption I made when trying to do ringtones on the VX5200 and it worked.

You have to go to /dload and remove the ringtone.dat file and reboot the phone.

For some reason, every time I go to the sourceforge page to download bitpim, I get as far as the page that gives me options for windows, mac or linux. Sometimes when I hit the windows link, the page times out. Sometimes I can get to the next page which lists three separate files that are part of bitpit, one being an exe file, one an rpm? and one something else. When I try to download any of these, the page will not load. I have tried many times. COuld someone give me an allternate source for bitpim or other software to access my LG VX5200? Or, could someone with the software, just send it to me as an email attachment to johncutrone@msn.com.
Any help would be appreciated.

ive downloaded the prolific driver but the cable i purchased did not include a URL for the driver so that the computer recognizes the phone. I have a VX5200. If anyone could provide a link to it i would be very grateful.
