I thought I'd have more exposure creating a new thread...

1- First thing first does the tutorial for VXXX phones means that the V3 is included? Or different method there is to use to flash/Flex?

2- I am currently running on a T-Mobster stock video enable with :
flex= gsmv3xxTMB01NA106
S/W= R374_G_OE.42.09R

I already had a talk about my poor reception issue (some unrelated thread) with old fool who advised me, I quote:

"As for signal strenght , i have heard the new firmware 42.9CR does wonder on that so you may want to upgrade.
Note if you wish to unlock your fone do not flash it to boot loader 8.26 that firmware is compatable with bootloader 8.23 , but i guess is not matter much cuase you can alway down grade boot loader 8.26 to 8.23 to unlock!!"

a) is firmware advised 42.9CR is the same thing than my current one, 42.09R ??? if not, I coudlnt find this firmware anywhere unfortunately, anybody knows where to find it?

b) How can I check whether my phone is unlocked or not?

1. Procedure for flashing and flexing Vxxx models is the same as the V3.

2. (a) 9CR and 09R are different flashes, I have personally tried 09R and didnt like the flash, I noticed that the pictures were pixelated as oppose to the 08R flash and like you the signal was alittle worse. Personally I would flash with either C3R or 08R flash's

(b) Put a sim card into the phone from another provider ie. Cingular/At&t if it works then the phone is unlocked if not the its locked.

1)So considering my priority is signal which one do you advise that I install: 09R, C3R or 08R? and accordingly to you answer also which bootloader (to kill two birds with one stone , also unlock the phone)?

2)Also is there a way to make a backup of my stock flash and bootloader??

3) If I flash my phone and then flash it back to stock is there a way the provider would know in case of warranty issues?

Can I ask you guys if you are working in the cell industry ??? if not how did you gain all that technical knowledge???

Thank you for the great work

You miss understood me , right now all software and hardware can not unlock v3 with bootloader 8.26 so if you want to unlock your fone using software like MSS 4.0 or hardware like smart unlocker you need to down grade it to 8.23.
There is no flash or flex or bootloader can unlock it.
YOu needto have Flash Pack up kit to do full back up of your flash, your bootloader and most importance of all you PDS each fone have it own PDS if it's damage or corrup, with out back up you can not revise your fone. I'm trying to learn how to make this PDS but it's not an easy task!!!

Search and you will find.
Reading does wonder for your mind and improve your knowlege!!!.
No i'm not in the cell fone industry.

Update****
IT's seem like i have got boguss info about downgrade BL8.26 to BL 8.23 is possible. Nope that's not true
I have tried it and it is not possible, unless some one have other way and successfylly done so please let us know.
For now razr owner, if you want to upgrade firmware and still want to unlock it then use boot loader 8.23 it's still compatable with the latest frimware

great explanations!

just for info I reflashed with 08R .... unfortunately didn't notice any improvement in reception but phone is much faster in the menus.... so i guess its a plus... and 8MB free.... no sweat...

so I looked around for this 42.9CR in the hope of getting a better reception but couldnt find it, even on the site you guys usually advise Motox.us..... any suggestions please on where to find it?????

I will work on the unlocking an other time.... right now the reflashed works with the 8.26....

--------------------------------------------------------------

not relevant to that subject , some people might already know that but just in case:

I found out how to display a custom GIF instead of the carrier name on the outer LCD of the V3:

-in 004a_001.seem, set offset 27 to "01" to activate custom text

-in 0061_0001.seem write the path in the hex editor for the phone to find the pic smthg like: /a/mobile/system/nameofthepic.gif

of course upload the pic in the same folder , nameofthepic.gof has to be size 96 by 80 I think

Your method for getting the custom lcd image is incorrect. you find a pic thats 96x80 and you rename is cl then load the picture to /a/mobile/system
