Phone Model: Motorola V220
Service Provider: Rogers Canada |

I have an "unlocked" Motorola V220 that I bought in England. I live in Canada and my service provider is Rogers. When I insert my existing Rogers SIM card in the V220, I can get all of the features to work, with the exception of internet access. The phone defaults to a British internet provider and so I keep getting the message that connection was unsuccessful. I would think that the Rogers internet access info would be embedded on the SIM card, but that obviously isn't the case. Does anyone know how I can change this particular setting on the phone so tht I can get internet access on this phone?
Thanks very much,

You'd have to get the Rogers WAP setup and manually create a profile in web sessions in the phones settings. Otherwise its still running on the service that it was unlocked from.

Sorry -- I am new to this. Is the WAP setup something I can easily get access to (and if so, where from)? I did contact Rogers about this, and as you can imagine, they were less than helpful because it's not one of their phones.
Thanks again.

After several calls to Rogers, I finally got the WAP and DNS info, but the phone still won't access the internet. I keep getting the message Server Not Available. Contacted Motorola and it turns out this is a common problem with any phones from the UK or Europe, as the browser software in the phone is not compatable with North American software. Motorola can re-Flash(?) the phone for me and load NA software onto it, but it will cost me $160 Cdn. for them to do it -- so of course, I'm probably going to end up doing exactly what they want me to do, and that is buy another phone.
Just wanted to let anyone who is considering buying a used phone from eBay or anywhere to make sure it's a North American phone (unless you've got the technical knowledge to re-Flash the phone yourself).
Thanks to Veilfore89 for your assistance on this.
