After searching the internet I found this great forum here that helped me figure out how to play my own MP3's on my new LG vx8100. I read this thread really help me and was able to follow most things. I'm one of the 4-5% on a Mac and I was afraid I wa going to need to use my PC laptop for adding files to my 512MB Mini SD card. That's what verizon customer service told. They said I would need to download WMP 10 or 11 and sync up my device. So I then bought a USB cable and tried it with no luck. Then I found this site and went through downloading Audacity and Lame and not much success there. I then enable the MP3 player mode because I had SW version 07, I then reformatted my card and it added a new "my Mp3's" folder, I then connected my MobileMate SD+ card reader into my USB port on the front of my G5 and then simply dragged any MP3's that were not bought from iTunes into the "My Mp3's" folder right out of iTunes or from a desktop folder. I loaded it up in my phone and presto there it all was for the first time. I snyced and siked? Thanks for all your help! It also seems that the player does not support folders inside the "My MP3's" folder. That would be nice.
I hope my post helps the Mac people.
Thanks!
Jay

Jay,
my 1G mini sd card is formatted, and when I put the card reader into my iBook the folders show up, but when I try to drag an mp3 song into the My MP3 folder I get a message that the folder cannot be modified. What am I doing wrong?

Shelley,
I'm not sure. I did not not have that problem. I would check your permissions of the card folder. To do that highlight the main card folder on your desktop and key in command+I and it will tell you toward the bottom on the dialog box what the folders permissions are set at and adjust accordingly. Not sure if that will help.

Jay,
When I look at "permissions" it says "you can only read." I don't seem to be able to modify that, ie clicking around doesn't change anything.
Thanks,
Shelley

forget about all of that stuff. the length of the file name, the bitrate, whatever. here is what you need to do. i am friends with someone who works for verizon, and has the same phone. he has episodes of family guy and all types of shit on his phone.
here is what he said:
"DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE
on your phone you are going to press the middle OK key
using your number pad type in hit zero (0)
then type in six zero's(000000)
then scroll to bottom for Music Settings...then enable mp3's
DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE!!!!
DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE"
there you have it. YOU'RE WELCOME GUYS!!!!!!
