I have been trying to download MP3s onto my phone. I got the mini SD and I formatted it. I put it into the card reader and moved a file into the folder that said "my MP3" When I try to play a song it says that there is no songs stored on my disk even though I can go back to my computer and play the song off the disk. Someone please help me.

I am having the same problem. I have all the new settings from Verizon for the MP3 player...i have put the songs on. I put the Card in...and it says "No Songs Found On Memory Card." Is there a problem with the way I have the songs on the card?
So confused...

I am having the same problem. I have contacted Verizon but no luck there either. I have the latest software. MP3 is on the menu. MP3's are on the mini SD. The Mini SD works in my Rio MP3 player and computer.
No Songs on Memory Card is what I get on the phone

I just bought a Sandisk 1GB at compuplus.com for $69.95 with a $20.00 rebate for a net cost of $49.95. The rebate is good until 10/31/05 and must be submitted by 11/30/05. Their shipping cost is a little high though, $22.25 for 2nd day delivery. Also bought the Bluetooth USB there for $19.95. This is the best deal I could find so far for 1GB.

Hi all,
This is my first post to a Mobiledia forum. I was researching my own issues with my VX8100, and I thought I'd share my thoughts on this thread's specific topic, namely, mp3 files on the mSD card that do not appear on the phone.
I encountered exactly the same issue a few days ago; some files would appear, but not others. So I began experimenting with file names, and I came to the conclusion that although Windows allows 256-character filenames, the phone's software apparently limits files to 43 usable characters (plus the ".mp3" extension). If the filenames are any longer, then the files simply will not appear on the phone's track menu.
I hope this sheds some light on your dilemma. I'll continue posting tips as I find them. Another good resource I've found is Howard's Forums (http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=295).
If I may pose a question of my own, I'd like to know why several of my mp3 files will not play. As far as I can tell, there's not common thread, and Verizon doesn't seem to have a clue about it, either (big surprise). I've tried renaming the files, removing cover art and ID3 tags, and even re-converting the file to mp3 at lower bitrates. I even ran several of the files in question through a program that performs a CRC to verify file integrity.
We're talking a sizeable chunk of my mp3 collection here, so if the phone isn't going to handle most mp3's, then it's pretty much worthless to me. Frankly, there are cheaper phones that don't have the mp3 player functionality, but then, they don't claim to have it.
Of course, this information is nowhere to be found in any of the documentation I received from Verizon. Apparently, the user guide included with the phone doesn't know it has an integrated mp3 player, cause there's nary a mention of it. I called Verizon's customer support line, and got the run around ("we don't support the phone, you'll need to contact LG directly"). I'm going back to the Verizon store where I bought it tomorrow and demand some answers.
Does anyone know if there are limits to the types of mp3 files that the VX8100 can play (such as bitrate, volume, length, etc.) Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
- Greg

I found that when I ripped songs to the mini SD chip that they were created about two directories deep and the VX8100 would not see them. I moved them directly under MY MP3's and then the phone recognized the files and plays them fine.
