Just got my lovely d600 upgrade.Been waiting ages for it to come out!
AARRGGHH!! The Mp3 player is the worst I have ever seen (Or heard). On full blast, you have to have it about 3 feet from your ear to even hear it.Anyone know of any `Moto gain-table type` mod for Samsungs to increase the volume?
The really annoying thing is that it`s got `stereo` speakers!! Wouldn`t be so bad if you could hear them!
HELP ME!!

I would like to know the exact same thing.
I've found out about the test menu and the audio settings, yet I don't have a clue what to edit in order to get the sound higher than the maximum.
Word on the street is that you can also adjust your bass levels etc by doing this, anyone has precise info about this?
Thanks and regards,
Greetz

I would like to join your issue - I have (more or less) same problem.
Samsung SGH-D600 MP3 player function:
- Loudness is OK for me.
- Equalizer settings are poor. The 4 (3) pre-defined EQ-settings don't boost bass levels enough.
I asked the local Samsung Customer Support and they send a mail to me saying "The firmware upgrades won't have any effect for settings or menus, so we suggest you use the available EQ settings". What can I say? Great.
I have an idea only: some users started to tamper its firmware, maybe they could find the EQ settings and modify them. The other opportunity maybe the service codes you mentioned. If anyone find solution or idea fixing this issue, do not hesitate to share with me.
Ps: I jumped into the debug menu. Do you guess if you experimenting with the headset values you can achieve positive results? (I do not want to try)

News:
I received a mail from the European Support and they say "it is impossible to modify the current EQ settings, but we are good guys and we try to fix this bass level problem... in the next phone we create. Buy that one then and be happy". :-/
So what? I tought there are only 2 way to end this problem:
1) Hardware weakness, the amplifier can't bear more dB from the bass levels (more? heh. any!)
2) Bad settings in the player application or in the firmware which can be solved in a new software version, if someone take the effort and modify the firmware.
Correct me if I'm wrong and my ideas were too optimistic..
Just for sure:
H/W Version : MP 3.100
or H/W Version : REV2.1
S/W Version : D600XDEJ5 (19th Oct 2005) 13:29:29
or S/W Version : TG001.06
Firmware Version : D600XDEJ5

I don't know why your D600's are quiet, mine is so loud. I can be in the next room and still clearly hear it (in fact, its still loud!). Sorry, not much help i know but i just think its strange that yours are so quiet when mine is so loud!
