I heard that if I change an .mp3 to a .mid I can send it to my phone and use it as a ringtone. So I changed an .mp3 to a .mid and emailed it to myNumber@cingularME.com and I got the message, but when I went to extract sound, it told me there was nothing there. I'm confused, is this the way to do it? My phone is the LG C1500 by the way.

Try converting the file to an .mmf format. You can do this with some yamaha converter software, i think they have it on thier website for download (but don't quote me) Also make sore the file isn't above 45-60 KB. Anything larger and your LG phone won't detect it being there.

I've been able to send mp3's to my phone via mynumber@mms.mycingular.com. However the only way they will work is after I have converted them to a "mono" mp3 as opposed to "stereo". The only problem is once I've recieved them on my phone and have saved them, I can't set them to a ringtone. The only options I'm given are:
Send Via Multimedia Message
Delete
Edit Title
Delete All
According to the users manual for this phone I should have more options than those, one being "Set as ringtone"

I just got off the phone with LG and they said that this phone doesn't support mp3's as ringtones, only polyphonic. I asked why it says it supports mp3 ringtones on the box and they said cingular put that on there and they're wrong. I think I might take mine back.

Like i said before, just convert it to an MMF file. All lg phones support this format. You can convert from an mp3 to an mmf, and it will work as a trutone.

what size is the mp3/mmf file limited to? as well as for images sent to this phone? based on the manual the phone has a 16 mb capacity for downloaded media, but are ringtones and pictures included in this, or is it seperated up (for downladed games, etc.)?

I've tried sending the mmf files using the yamaha converter and it says on my phone that it dropped the attachment because the file format is not supported.
