I understand what he is saying and have the same problem.
The Volume on the Nokia 6680 is quite low when in a crowded place with other noises about, even walking down a not-so-busy street will severly interfere with the phone call.
Saying that, the speaker-phone option is quite loud and clear, and i can safely use that while driving if my headset's battery is dead, so it has the ABILITY to be loud, but it is just set really soft even when on a normal call, even with the volume all the way up.
Can someone help ??
Thanks,
Noel

This wasn't sarcastic. There are still people out there who don't know that you've to turn up the volume durring a call. Most think, it is an option within the menu which they don't find or think it is the same as the ringtone volume (or similar).
Just wanted to check. (you don't believe how many problems could have been solved by just reading the manual)
I took a look around... some say it's a software faukt (but haven't seen a proof of it in the update-informations for the software for this phone) and some say it's a hardware fault and they replaced it and it was good and loud enough.

My 6600 is the same.
If I'm outside, I can't hear well anyway due to my hearing loss.
Quick Solution: Activate the loudspeaker, then turn the volume down. Turn the phone around so your ear is now listening to the speaker, not the earpiece.
It's not ideal and you look ridiculous, but it works a treat!
Another option is to get yourself a hands-free kit. (The Bluetrek G2 is stupidly loud).

I have a bluetooth headset, and yeah the volume is fine on that, but i keep that in my car
I'll be surprised if it's a hardware problem, but it's a possibility i suppose. I have recently ordered a new cover for my phone from ebay, waiting for it to arrive, and will try and see if that affects the sound volume at all, which would make sense as the phone case covers the speaker you are listenig too.
If this IS a hardware problem how do i explain that 'Yes, I know it sounds fine when you listen to it in your workshop Mr 'I Fix Phones For a Living', but try testing it in a noisier place !' ? ooo.. maybe thats how i do that !

I used to tell people like that "The purpose of having a communications device that you can be reached anywhere is that you can use it anywhere.
If I wanted a phone that I can only use while I'm in an office, I'll get one that's tied to the wall."
Voodoofone's customer services department put the phone down on me after that.
Nowadays, I get a sales rep who can say for certain if it's loud or not. Even if they have to get one from the back and test it. It sometimes means waiting a week or two to get a handset, but it's worth it if it saves me getting a dud phone.
