Sorry for this majorly dumb question, but...

I've been messing about with flashing my phone, but no matter what pack I apply, the bootloader stays at 0.7E...

Can anyone tell me if this should be happening, and whether the bootloader files come seperate from the flash s/w?

Thanks for that icon_smile.gif

Finally tracked down 8.23 and applied it to my phone. Going to reflash with 42.09R software to keep it all nice and recent (ish)

How do you downgrade bootloader? If you reflash with older firmware will you also change bootloder? If i unlock my phone and then reflash with newer firmware will it lock again? Sorry if these are newbish questions but I just want to be sure so i don't mess up my phone.
Thanks

Samsung,
I had some real problems with .08R. My video went to crap and sometimes the phone would just lock for a few seconds. I flashed to 09R about a week ago and I find that its a world of difference. I did however have to load the US english lang pack. But short of that, the phone doesn't lock up anymore and with all of my customizations, I am still showing 9.1 MB FREE!!! I will keep you info'd on how 09R is doing.

Most of the flashes dont have the bootloader or the PDS included in them. Thats because not all bootloaders work with all hardware. Its actually better that they dont have them, so they can be used on more different types of phones.

The way I change bootloaders is to get a bootloader flash or to make one for myself. The bootloader takes up the first 128K (i think) of the phones memory (1000000-12000000), so you can use RAMLDR or I prefer FlashBackup and make a backup of the bootloader portion of a phone. Then just install it and do alot of praying!!! Good luck.

First of all thanks for your help. But, where can I find a flash of bootloader 8.23? I tried flashing with 3 different flash packs and none changed my bootloader.

I dont know where to get 8.23 since my phone came with it, i haven't needed it. Sorry I couldnt help there.
As far as the flash, most of them dont have a bootloader for the reasons above. I will see if I can build a 8.23 flash file. I have never done one on the V3, so there are no guarantees.
