There are no other smartphone choices for Nextel, and for that matter, Blackberry's are rarely considered cool. They do one thing well, that is send and receive email. If you need to do this away from your desk get one, if you are looking for a phone taht is easy to use and capable of loading a lot of software and toys on, not your best choice.

You should get helio. it mainly uses sprints coverage (CDMA) but when that is not availible it switches over to Verizon, also CDMA, it has cool phones and all-in-one plans starting at 65, a little expensive, but unlimited internet on a 3G network, good, unlimited texting, picture texting, video texting, and unlimmited IM-ing, and unlimited emails.

No unlimited mobile to mobile for Helio, and on Sprint's network, when there are no Sprint towers in the area, it works off of Verizon or Alltel, so your first statement really isn't news.
