Hello everybody, new to the flash/flex world here. I recently purchased a used silver V3. When I bought it was locked to Rogers, paid to get it unlocked and now I'm with Fido.. I would like to enable the Video.

Is it possible to update to the latest Flex or Flash with a canadian service provider such as Fido, knowing that it has been locked to a different service provider before? Also, are tehre instructions on doing how so?

I see xxxsamsungxxx is with Rogers and is pretty good at that stuff, so if I can hear back from you that would be great.

Fido doesn't have the V3 as far as I know. What I would do if I were you would be update the flash to 40.09R to get the new bootloader, so you can enable video record, get multiple letter phonebook searching and 7+Mb of memory. I would leave the phone with the stock flex and just debrand it using this guide: http://www.motox.us/motox101/v3_unbranding_guide.htm

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, Fido doesn't have the V3 for sale. I bought the phone off someone. It was previously locked to Rogers, got it unlocked since I am with Fido.

It says S/W Version: R374_G_0E.40.7CR

Flex Version: GSMV3xxRGR01NA0a5 - 2.0.1.3.2.7.3.2Z.0.0.17.0.1.0.0.1P.1.0.16.E

H/W Version: SJUG0161DA

I know I can do that easily by editing the Seems and using Hex Editor. I've done that with my v600, just awaiting my cable on ebay to mod my v3.

The question was whether was it possible to upgrade (not too sure flash or flex) since it is now unlocked from Rogers and now I am on Fido. I've heard about alot of flashing/flexing from American Networks that I know will work, i.e. Cingular. Not too sure if a new flex will reverse the unlocking process and since this is a Canadian service provider.

Also if it's possible to just edit the seems to get video record? If you have msn that would be great, then I can chat to you about it.

Flashing will not lock your phone, however flexing can. If you are going to download flex files from www.motox.us they should say if they are locked or not and all the files there have been tested. If you get a flex from somewhere else I would recommend you check it with a program called flextool (checks to see if its locked). Yes you can enable the video record feature by seem editing 0032_0001, 004a_0001, mma_ucp and mma_dcp as long as your bootloader is 8.23 or higher.
