Ok, I did a lot of searching and couldnt find what I was looking for. The reason being is that Ive never flashed, seemed, or upgraded my phone. The most Ive done is bluetooth mp3's and pics for wallpaper.
The problem Im having now with my Black V3 that I got the first week they came out in June is this:
It just started happening but when I close my phone, the outside screen will go blank for about 20 seconds, then my wallpaper will come up. If I open my phone during this 20 seconds, my screen is bright white and then goes black. The phone resets itself everytime. I can tell this because my message box cleans itself up as if I removed the battery on a soft reset.
Has anyone else been experiencing this? I do not want to flex or upgrade my phone as I spent 3 hours looking at that stuff and couldnt figure it out. Leaving this phone stock worked for me.

Wirelessly posted (Gizmo: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/hspr-H102; Blazer/4.0) 16;320x320)
sounds like you got a defect phone. exchange it if possible. your other option is to upgrade the firmware which you donlt want to do.

I just got off the phone with Cingular and neither them or Motorola has heard of this problem yet. I treat all my electronics like prized possessions and can verify this has never gotten wet (not even spittle from talking lol) or very hot from being left somewhere. Im getting a replacement from Motorola through the warranty dept. but I hope they dont come back and say I have to pay $225 for it because they think it shouldnt be covered.
The other problem Im having is the plastic screen is peeling off. I guess the heat from my ear from talking warmed up the glue on the edges. It now bubbles up on the left side producing a gap big enough for dust to get under.
I got this black razr the first week in June when it was released. Guess its about time it starts showing symptoms.

This may sound silly, but is it the actual plastic screen peeling off or the protective plastic that the phone ships with that you remove once you get it?
I just know I've seen people leave those silly clear film things on stuff for months and never notice that it's just part of the packaging.
As for the resetting part, definitely a motorola issue, and they should fix/replace the phone.

I respect your question as I do know a lot of dumb people out there that leave the shipping plastic on. This however is the actual hard plastic screen part covering the display. At one point the glue was so soft I was able to pull it off and luckily wipe the dust off the LCD screen. The glue is apparently softer than rubber cement and as tacky as spit.

Ouch. Reason number 428 to not get a RAZR (that and the one T-Mobile's realeasing whenever is BRIGHT FREAKING PINK).

For what its worth though, this is still one of the best phones Ive ever had, and I get a new phone every 6 months. The only other phone I think was perfect for its time was the Nokia 8210.
