If it's "What's your problem? What are you unable to do?" I have no SmartClip box with which to do this. I looked at their site and immediately saw that peice of hardware I apparently need to buy. If it were merely a case of 'take apart the phone, connect it to an already-existing computer, and go' then I could do it. The Torx is easy. The desoldering is just as simple.
I just don't have that nice little box on SmartClip's site.

I have the biggest headach of my life from Friday till now!!! as i sent that to you gresh3, i decided to go ahead with my brand new Tmobile Raz that have 8.26 and 42.09R. I knew about the metal "Sheet " I read it on the other forum of SC but did not know it was thick!!!! untill i got there!!! for 2hours i can get it to stay recognized to flash, so i took a brake, wife caught me with the raz guts open !!!!!! headach began!!!!!!!. | Sorry for making this my first post, but I don't suppose you'd be willing to do the same for me? I'm lacking in the 'SmartClip' department. |
Unless you are realy need to do this for some reason i would not advice you to do so because your fone will be guts open, i have to cut the heat seal of to get to it and will not be able to but it back and i don't know if there is a side effect yet to come. If you just need to unlock it then wait for a month so so i think up date will came out and i will be able to use smart clip to unlock it for you with out open it apart. Beside if i make a twist or an acciden your raz will be gone , dead !!!!.
Beside i don't think you need the Smart clip to do the boot loader downgrade, once you got the test point you can just flash the bootloader 8.23 using smartmoto or Multi FF from PST, unless you want to unlock it then do this. After dwon grade to 8.23 send the fone to me or gresh either one of use can unlock it for you. But if to repair a dead v3 with boot loader 8.26 then yes you do need the clip in that case sign a waver not to hold me responssible then send it over ill fix it but give me time to do so cause this is not my job, just a hobby

Jay,
If you are going to try this, please let me know if you were able to downgrade without the SC. I have not tried it yet. I am not sure if when the phone goes into S BLANK Neptune mode, that the PDS portion of the flash is blank also, which means that you have to have a full back up of YOUR phones PDS with BL 8.23 (which I know you dont have). The other option is to use the PDS recover in SC.
I agree with Old_fool though, if you dont HAVE to do this, wait for the fix from SC. I have found that removing the heat shield (in my V551) has caused overheating (go figure!) and the phone is pretty much worthless because it overheats and turns off. I am still investigating whether I fried something (I am sure I did fry atleat one of the voltage regulators).
Anyhow, whatever your choice God Bless and good luck!!!!

I tried to load the latest 42 firmware and the flash stopped midway. It was working fine then the transfer stopped, the phone shut off, and I cannot turn it on any more. I have a couple of questions:
1) Do I have to use the Rogers firmware? (didn't think about this before)
2) Does anyone have the latest firmware for Rogers? Can it be downloaded from an updated phone or is it one way only?
3) Is there any advantage to running the stock moto firmware and unlocking the phone on Rogers?
4) The phone had a subsidy code because I got it from Rogers. Does this present any problem if I decided to use a non Rogers firmware (assuming this is possible, which it should be)
Finally, can I use the test point procedure to reload a flash and fix it?

Flash (firmware) files are not tied to a network - no such thing as a "rogers flash".
Flexes may be tied to a network or there are stock or unbranded flexes.
Flashing will not unlock your phone.
Try holding * and # while turning your phone on - if you get to a bootloader screen you can download a new flash - make sure your phone is fully charged up first.

I am using XP but the phone won't even turn on. Has anyone recovered a phone from this type of error?
