Yeah, I agree for absolutely dead phones. This is good for the quick unlock or if you dont want to void the warranty. I know I have had alot of E-mails from people who dont want to void the warranty. This unlock will allow them to keep the full warranty.

I know there's a way to unlock the Razr without dismantling it but I'm still trying the old method and ran into a problem. I made it past the testpoint procedure. I've made numerous attempts to flash the phone using RSD, MFF and Smartmoto softwares with no success. Do I need a smart clip to flash the V3?

The testpoint method gives you a blank v3 (S BLANK NEPTUNE...). You will need a complete backup (wich you don't have) or you will need a SC to load an image.

I read somewhere that I don't need a smart clip to downgrade the bootloader. Guess I'm off track...so to be clear I am trying to downgrade the bootloader is having the smart clip necessary to do that ? If not ,tell me how to do it.

If you try to flash a blank phone using MFF or RSD or PST or something and a Monster Pack flash, it should error out and say this is not an image or something like that. Since you dont have a backup of your PDS area, you must use a SC to fix it.

Bottom line, it can be done without a SC, but you must have the exact same flash image (a moster pack that has the boot loader as well, most dont) as before you started and you must have backed up the PDS area of your flash. I have no idea where to get an image file for a V3. I can fix it for you if you like, just e-mail me. God Bless and good luck with it. Let me know if I can help in any other way.

You can mail it to me and I can unlock it for you or you can buy a Smart Clip for $250 and unlock it yourself. E-mail me if interested. You can also talk to Old_Fool for unlocking.

Also, please edit your IMEI out of your comments. Its not a good idea to publish your IMEI!!
