I love the part of "Brainiac" where Jon Tickle asks interesting questions... which many people would call "dumb questions"...
And you really start to thing about them.... like...
If you're in a vehicle going the speed of light, what happens when you turn on the headlights?
or
What's the youngest you can die of old age?
or
If a word in the dictionary were misspelled, how would we know?
or
Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp which no decent human being would eat?
or
Can you cry under water?
or
If two identical twin brothers married identical twin sisters, would there kids be identical?
or
If shampoo comes in so many colors, why is the lather on your head always white?
No, I don't want answers... you just should think about this stuff

You know that indestructible black box they keep on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that?
And on the subject of planes, why when we board a plane do we call it 'getting on the plane?' Shouldn't we be "in" the plane? Isn't that a safer option?

Ok, i know we arent supposed to answer but i couldnt resist.. Its only the last place you look because you stop looking after you find it... It wouldnt be the last place you look if you kept looking after you found it, but that wouldnt make much sense would it?
Ok, this one is a little long and complicated.
If you have a peice of cardboard with a few vertical slits in it and you shine a flashlight through it onto a wall, you get an interference pattern on the wall (similar to what you see when waves overlap on a pond). This is caused by the light being bent around the corners of the slits and arriving at different times.
Light is made out of photons, and for simplicity sake, just think of photons as tiny little marbles. Now if you slow light down so that only one photon at a time comes out of the flashlight (single file), and then shine it through one of the slits, you should only see a dot/line on the wall on the other side of the cardboard because there shouldnt be anything to interfere with the light.
But that is not what happens. You still get an interference pattern, nobody knows what actually interferes with the light, but something is actually affecting the individual photons. This effect has been known for quite some time now, and still nobody has found an answer.
