I just swapped my V551 and my V600 main boards, but kepy everything else (camera, screen, ...). The phones work great (except the on/off buttons are backward).

The interesting thing is that the Video camera still works on the V551. I thought the V600 camera was not able to do video. I confirmed that it does in fact work. That being said, had anyone tried enabling video on the V600? Is there something on the mainboard that makes it a video camera? Any ideas on how to enable the video on the V600?

Thanks

That would be interesting. I will have to do some research on the flash chips. I think they do have the same flash chips in them. This V551 is fried, so maybe I will look at it down the road.
Right now, I am so pissed at Moto, I am boycotting their phones. I have a E550 that the keyboard died on and I sent it back (3 times now) and Moto says theres nothing wrong 2 times and the 3rd time, they send me a V505 in place of it. A V505!! That phone is not even in the same class as the e550!! Anyhow, I call Moto and the guys gives me a bunch of crap that they dont normally replace phones, they fix them (which is what I would have prefered, and under no certain terms, I let him know that). Anyhow, they are sending me out a V551 to replace my E550. I guess thats OK, but you would think they would send a RAZR after all of the crap they put me through with THEIR phone.

Thats sucks.... Well goodluck with the firmware thing if you decide to give it a try, I know people that have tried to do it but all have killed their phones. I think that xlr8 was trying to do it and also killed his phone, dont know if he has had any progress since then.

Well, its practically impossible to completely kill a Moto phone by using software (but I am sure I will find a way), but we'll see. Thanks

There is a frech site ( ihave to go back and find it) talk about this and they are trying to figure out why they can make one V600 to record video and killed the nex one, i did not interset in it much cause V600 is slowly fading out as an old dinosaur ...like me!!
