I was told that VZW will sell the Nokia 6256i WITH A FULLY ENABLED BLUETOOTH, meaning that with this phone they will not disable/cripple the Object Push feature of the BlueTooth in the phone.
Question: When will they stop disabling ALL of their phones so that customers can transfer photo files FREE via BlueTooth to their BlueTooth computers???

Because they know they will loose customers to Cingular if they dont. If you can get a fully enabled bluetooth phone from cingular, and Cingulars network is just as good, and they offer cheap international services (example below) why would you want verizons crippled bluetooth, and overpriced network?
Bermuda International Roaming Price:
Verizon Wireless: 69 cents a min.
Cingular Wireless: 7 cents a min.

Thank you for replying to my question.
1. My neighbor's Cingular SE phone works downstairs in the kitchen but not well at all upstairs in my bedroom. This means that the phone works, but the reception from the carrier is for some reason not that clear.
I told this to a Cingular sales rep today (in a Cingular store) and he said the above. He actually suggested that since my friends' VZW phones work in my home, I should go to VZW.
I need my cell phone to work in my home bc I do all my long distance calls with the cell, not the land line.
2. I read in an article that Nokia 6256i with Verizon will be fully enabled in BlueTooth. This is important to me. However, when I went to the Verizon at Circuit City today (a stone's throw from the Cingular store), the rep told me that as far as she knows, NO CELL PHONE IS FULLY BLUETOOTH ENABLED AT VZW. This flies in the face of the article saying that the Nokia 6256i will be fully BlueTooth enabled.

That didn't answer the question and really only took an opportunity to disparage another carrier. It would have been useful if the question had been answered or no post at all would have been appropriate.
As to the question, no formal information exists regarding previous units with Bluetooth so I am sorry that I cannot help either.

.......... Lorna says ................................................
I just read an article in which someone said that Nokia's CDMA is somehow problematic or not up to par. I would love to have a BlueTooth phone with good reception and the ability to transfer pic files from camera to my BlueTooth iMac......... but I don't want to be in an experimental group for Nokia CDMA.
And as far as reception goes, I do know that it changes from place to place depending on where the towers are. The one place that my cell phone must have good reception, though, is in my house, bc I make all my long distance calls on my cell phone. -Kismet |
