NO the software keeps freezing when the data cable is plugged in to the phone. I have a USB attached to a printer, could there be any interference? When it says power on mobile, i press the on button, and then nothing happens; until i take the cable out, then the log streams - upon putting the cable back in the phone, it stops!

Just have, same thing - its like something has reversed in the phone.
Something strange happened when i shutdown and restrated windows, i had the phone connected to the data cable without the battery, then slid the battery on carefully while bios was still booting, and the phone magically switched on with the white blank screen, upon taking the cable out, it turned off again, thats the first time ive actually managed to switch on the mobile since i backed up the original firm.
The phone won't switch on now, maybe ive buggered the data cable as well. I don't think there's much left to ruin. Better order a new phone, lucky ive got insurance!

Im sure its not your phone. Is it the oreginal cable with the switch?

Yes its the orignal with the little rubber block to prevent switching it to DL mode, i.e. stuck on data, it came with the phone and everthing else, just totally had it!

Tried it with the other battery maybe its empty?

When you put your cable on the phone doe you see a withe screen? And wich Com Port do you use?
