I'm having a problem with my V300 coming on when I open it. It seems the button is sticking. It will sometimes blink to blank screen a few times, and hangs up on whoever is calling.
I would love it if I could fix this phone. I'm in need of someone telling me how to get into the darn thing. I've tried cleaning around the button and also blowing air around it, didn't help.
I have had nothing but lousy customer service with T-Mobile and would rather not have to deal with them regarding this.
Thanks for any advice,
S-Kreie

I am sure the V300 is like all of the Triplet phones.
To open it up:
1. Remove the back and battery.
2. There are 4 Torques screws that hold the front to the back. Remove them.
3. After removing the screws, look at the back of the phone. There should be a square hole on each side of the phone. Using a screwdriver, pry the locking tabs to the center until the back clicks off. If there are no holes, then the tabs are located just below the side buttons on each side of the phone. Use a screwdriver to pry the tabs open. Be VERY carful not to break them or scratch your phone.
4. remove the main board, being careful to loosen the two side button boards before you take the board out. You can unhook the screen if you like. Using a screwdriver CAREFULLY work the ribbon off.
5. The contact for the switch is on the top of the main board. Its a small round dot. Use a pencil eraser to clean it.
6. You can remove the rubber contact on the keypad and clean it. Be VERY careful not to crease or distort the rubber. Also, I dont recommend putting any oil as it collects dust.
7. To reassemble, follow directions backwards.

I figured this out for myself last night after having yet another frustrating call with T-mobile. I have been a customer since 1999 and ALWAYS paid on time. They couldn't care less about an existing customer. I did actually get a rep that seemed like he had been there more than a day, so that was something new in dealing with them.
The only thing I saw in your steps that was different for me is I had to push the locking tabs OUT instead of in to get the cover off. I was determined to fix it or fry it. Luckily, I fixed it.
Thanks for your help.
I have another question. My husband's old V300 isn't working properly either, so I tore into it, with no avail. I can't get it to find a network and every call will fail. Any ideas on what might be the problem with it? Of course, T-mobile and Motorola said it's unrepairable, but so was mine.
Thanks for all your help,

That one may be a bit harder. You can try flashing with a different software version. You can also go into the network settings and register with a different network. Take a look at what network your other V300 is registered to and manually register with that one. I doubt that this is a fixable hardware problem for you though, so tearing the phone apart wont help much (except to relieve some stress).

I was afraid that "flashing" and "flexing" was going to be the answer. I'll admit I'm a complete moron regarding this. I didn't even know this was possible until I found this site yestserday. I tried reading the FAQ's and going to the links, but it made my eyes bleed and my brain hurt! I might give it a try, because it's not like he uses the phone. Wish me luck.

Doesnt necessarily sound like a hardware problem, more like a software or network issue. Im sure that if you have called both moto and tmo they have walked you through manual band/network selection so like gresh I would suggest reflash/

I did contact Motorola directly also. They told me the nearest service center was 2 states away and gave me a phone number. I called that number and was told that they were a wireless carrier. I talked to the technician there. Their services does not carrier that brand of particular phone and he couldn't tell me what to do. Very nice people, just didn't get anywhere. Of course, I could send my phone in and for $75 motorola would fix my 2-year old phone. No thanks!

Well before you send your phone anywhere or just invest in another phone I would reflash, you have nothing to lose by the sounds of things.
