I just found an adapter on ebay at
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6473395311&ssPage Name=MERC_PMTCONF_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT
I'm not sure how long it will take to get here because it's purchased from Europe. However the price is way below the $40 even with shipping.

I just received the adapter above. It doesn't work so don't waste your time.
However, the other adapter is now back on ebay and I purchased today.
Good luck.

I am looking for the 2.5mm adapter for the Razr, but can't find one that's reasonably priced (like around $10-15) that's in stock. Can someone help?

I have bought several adapters (from ebay and a place called cellularaccessory.coom) but they didnt work. I finally bit the bullet and bought the $40 one and it works great. Go figure.

I have one that I believe is the same as the "Cell-phone-accessories.com" adapter. I actually purchased it from Cellular4Less.com . From the photos of the item, it appears to be identical.
I'm NOT HAPPY with it at all. The first one I received didn't pass the audio to my headset. For the replacement one I received, the audio is horribly distorted no matter what volume it's set at. I'm very particular about my sound (I'm a sound engineer).
Also, the adapter needs to be positioned away from the phone a certain way, or else it'll pass that buzzy "cell phone" interference to the headset. I believe this is most likely due to poor shielding and/or ground, as my OEM Motorola headsets don't have this issue.
I may have received a bad batch. But, after two tries, I'm unwilling to give that particular one another go.
I may bite the bullet and get that Pilot Support one. Hopefully it'll allow my Ety-com to sound as good on my Motorola L7 as it did with my old LG VX-6000 phone.

The makers of a high-end noise canceling headset also sell an adapter. I havn't bought one, but I suspect it is pretty good, since thier products are state of the art.
Go to this site, then scroll to the bottom of the page:

There is no photo of the product, but it is clearly labeled.

You and I have the same job and the same problem. None of the headsets I've found, wired or otherwise, give a clear, full-range signal. Even my Jawbone, which everyone on the other end of it loves, sound as though it is high-passed at 800hZ or so. Terrible, but I can deal with it. Apparently, it works well in noisy trucks.
Who do you work for?
