Hello, I hope this is on-topic, I believe it is:
I just got an unbranded black Razr v3 phone & my provider is T-Mobile. I'm paying for net access on the phone which gives me access to their T-Zone.
I try to download content from their T-Zone (DoomRPG) and received a an error message
"Application Error unable to download". I called & spoke w/ a T-Mobile Tech who sent a mail msg to my phone w/ a direct link to the game file to download again, but again I received the same error message.
I was then transferred to another t-mobile tech who informed me that even though I've got access to use the T-Zone, I will not be able to download anything from them because my Razr is not a T-mobile branded phone & that it's QUOTE "missing necessary software to allow downloads" the tech then suggested I go to the game publishers site to directly download the file I wanted (which was at Jamdat, but alas, Jamdat says that I'm on the T-mobile network & need to use the TZONE to download the contect). See what's happening here? I'm being led in circles.
My Q: what exactly is the "missing" software I'd need for my Razr to have it accept a download from TZONE. I posted here as I thought it was most appropriate.
(could my Tzone settings be wonky?).

The Black MoTo RAZR v3 phone is not a T-Mobile phone. it's either a Cingular, Rogers(Canada) or a RAZR right from Motorola. i would advise you to take the phone back to the store and ask for a refund. T-Mobile at this time only has the Silver MoTo RAZR v3

I went back to the place that sold me that Razr phone & I was told by the saleseman that it's definitely an issue that T-Mobile can correct by sending me the correct WAP settings... But wouldn't my WAP settings be correct if I can access their T-Zone site (albeit, not download).
So now I'm on the phone as I type this & they confirmed what you stated, that it's not supported for download.
(plus, every website that I've gone to to purchase games won't let me because as soon as I indicate that my carrier it Tmobile, it immediately directs me to use Tzone).
argh

You will not be able to download from T-Mobile themselves but if you go to other providers websites you may be able to download from "them" via tzones.

Thank you for taking the time to hear me out & your responses.
Interesting aside: I ended up receiving a call from a TMobile rep, was told that they can send a browser update that will allow dl's from Tzone, but it will take up to 72 hrs to go into effect.
Know what? I almost believed them. (but I did the update anyway)
I trust the information offered here moreso.
(maybe the Tmobile rep was just stroking me? I did mention that I was a new customer and not happy at all about this whole misunderstanding & was there anyway to cancel their service without penalty)...
I may switch to Cingular- so would I still encounter the same problem by having them as a carrier?

If you have a Cingular phone you will not have the same problem with them. Do yourself a favour though. If downloading things is that important to you, buy a data cable and put as many games, ringtones and images on your phone as you want for free.

Thanks- My phone did come with a USB cable, now i'll have to school myself in it's use and to find game publishers sites that allow you to purchase content for a PC/USB transfer to Razr.
Looks like I'll have to stick with TMobile though. After pricing cingular plans, It looks like Tmobile better suits my needs at this time (pricewise).
This fiasco hasn't caused me to break down in tears...... yet lol
