I have gone to insanity and beyond!!

I just mirgated over to cingular from AT&T.. so far no service issues..

BUT I need to talk to some one from "AT&T" not "AT&T/Cingular" about getting the subsidy/unlock code for my phone. I know its out there somewhere...

I spoke with a (very nice) "AT&T/Cingular" rep. who told me that they can only unlock Cingular phones. When AT&T sold out they didn't leave any information or their codes. (Cingular reps have a program where they punch in the IMEI # and it spits out the code--so yes they can unlock phones)

Upon speaking to the maufacturer (nokia 6620) they told me that they send out the phones unlocked and it is the service provider who puts the "lock" on the phone.

I have tried several sites who all gave the the same code (it didn't work). I have also called around to local stores but none can unlock my phone using a smartclip (there are none who have one).

Well "AT&T" no longer exists so... where should I go from here? icon_huh.gif

I am a rep who handles former ATTW accounts and we cannot unlock phones. when ATTW was a company, they did not support unlocking phones, thus we do not have acces to that information. pretty much, if you're going to unlock your phone, it will need to be done by someone other than cingular.

On a similar note, a friend of mine is a former AT&T Wireless employee (now called "Cingular Blue"), and is in a bind with his old blue phone. 6 months ago he was directed to replace his outdated phone (at his own expense), at which point he bought a new Audiovox. The internal purchasing folks repeatedly said that it'd be compatible with the new Orange employee rate-plan when everyone was migrated, etc.

Of course now that's turning out to be bogus. The blue folks are now being migrated over to Orange accounts, but their phones won't work. They're all being directed to purchase new Orange ones at their own expense.

Is there any way to just unlock the Blue phone instead?
