When I initially got my 6680 I installed the version of PC Suite that was supplied on the CD in the box with the phone. I was also using the genuine Nokia cable supplied in the box.
All was well for about 3 weeks and then for no obvious reason PC suite just stopped interacting with the phone.
If I try to install an item I get the diagloue window asking "Do you want to install the application to the phone" and if OK is selected the error "Operation Failed" occurs.
If I try to use the File Manager application in PC Suite the the phone is displayed but attempting to browse the phone results in "The operation could not be completed"
If using Backup and I select to make a backup of the phones contents to PC then "Backup definition could not be read from phone. The current task could not be completed"
If using Backup and I select to transfer contents from phone to PC then it completes that action successfully.
Add contact works ok
Store Images just sits at the "gathering information about new images and videos" screen
Connect to the internet works ok
Send text messages fails as it tries to install software on the phone which then fails.
Transfer Music will not work as the "Transfer to phone" button never becomes enabled
I uninstalled everything, pc suite and drivers, rebooted, cleaned folders and registry (with CCleaner as I can not find a copy of the nokia cleaner), reinstalle drivers, installed pc suit v6.6.18 which was downloaded from the Nokia site. Still same result.
Uninstalled both again, just ran PC suite setup, and then allowed it to install the necessary drivers, same result.
If I use a demo version of MobiMB then I can browse the phones folders etc, but the contact and file installation acces is not as good as pc suite (when it is working)
I have FE Explorer and OggPlayer installed on the phone and have not uninstalled them to experiment as I do not know how I would get them back on again. How can you manually install a game/application without using the PC Suite installer.
Please, anyone any ideas? I have yet to see a definitave solution to this issue.

My 6680 also suddenly acquired all of the same symptoms - after, more or less, working OK (apart from the fact that the Bluetooth headset (Motorola) rarely worked as it should - but sometimes did. Bought a Nokia one - still doesn't work properly - no last number redial or voice activation).
I've done a hard reset, to no avail. I've had the firmware updated, to no avail. Seems there is no way to get my pics off the memory card. Funny thing is, if I go back to the earlier version of PC Suite that came with the phone back in July - it nearly works - at least on my PC the browser and explorer can show the contents of the memory card, even if they can't download or otherwise extract them....
Does anyone know what is it with this phone or its software?
Orange, of course, are not interested in this aspect of the phone, and Nokia helpline, at high cost, has been just as useless.
Any suggestions, anybody?

Still have had no result to this issue.
By coincidence I am also using a Motorola BT headset. I upgraded from a V600 and I can get the last number redial to work by holding the headset button in for a few seconds. However it will not activate voice dialing when you r give a short press on the headset as it did with the V600. I have to activate voice dialing on the 6680 first and then speak the required name. Rather defeaults the object of handsfree operation

Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
Someone on another forum said to Start, Run - then paste this (above) in and hit OK.
And it worked! Now have full functionality between the 6680 and PC Suite - though I had to redo it when I upgraded to the latest PC Suite.
Dunno what it is, and wondered if I was taking a risk (so waited a day or so in case some guru saw the post and said 'don't do it , you'll have to reinstall Windows')- but all's well that ended well.
Though I still have the voice-dial on BT headset problem (I also 'upgraded' from the Motorola V600) - though, as I said - it has very (very) intermittently worked.
Good luck
