Hi
I recently bought a Samsung D600. I synchronised the phone with Outlook 2003 and found that it worked fine but my recurring calendar items as well as my anniversaries were not being synced. So I downloaded a trial version of "Mobile-Master" and synced the phone and PC using this. Problem is now that I cannot access any days on the calendar on the phone where recurring items occur. I cannot erase them either since I cannot access them to erase them. Tried to go back to the Sync software supplied by Samsung (PC Studio 3) but now even though phone is connected to PC, PC Studio fails to connect to the phone saying "Phone error occurred". Does anyone out there know how to fix this or have a similar problem?
Thanks

OMG. Finally. I have been searching EVERYWHERE for reference to this problem, and finally I've found it! I get the exact same error message as you do.

Syncing with PC Studio 3 has been working fine, no problems at all, I had synced all my outlook information to my phone and was really pleased. I hadn't synced in a few days and today I hooked my phone up to the USB, and I got this error message. "Phone error occurred". No reference to this kind of error message anywhere on the internet, not on the samsung website, not in the manual, nowhere. I'm so frustrated. I've tried everything. I uninstalled the phone drivers and reinstalled them, I've switched the USB setting to mass storage and pictbridge, to no avail. I always get the same damn error.

Any ideas?

hi,

I have experienced the same problem, and I've been trying to find a fix for more than a week now, without success. I also first tried syncing using PC Studio via Bluetooth, and initially it worked. However, it didn't support Lotus Notes, so I tried the "Mobile Master" which also didn't work with Lotus. Then I decided to try syncing with Outlook using PC Sync, but this time I got the frustrating "Phone error occurred" message. I also tried installing a fresh copy of PC Sync on another PC and syncing via USB, but the result was the same, "Phone error occurred".

I suspect it's a bug in the phone's firmware, or (hopefully) in the PC Sync software, but I can't find any e-mail address where I could report it to Samsung. If someone has a way to fix this, or at least report it to Samsung, please help.

Nope, nothing. I did the same thing jblazevik did and installed the phone on another pc and get exactly the same problem, which means that this is definitely something that is wrong with the phone itself.

I will probably try ringing Samsung support later on today. Anyone done that already?

I just had a little progress. The problem is far from fixed but I did find a few things out by tweaking settings.

I was looking at the PC Studio connection settings and noticed that if I selected the Serial connection it would only let me use COM1. I looked into my ports using the Device Manager and saw that there was something installed on COM1 called ACPI/PNP0501. Eventually I found out that ACPI relates to soft power management. I thought that if ACPI is already using COM1 and for some reason PC Studio wants to use COM1 then there will obviously be a problem.

Then I saw that the D600 was by default installed to use COM3. So I changed the D600 to COM1 and tried again... Voila. The "Phone Error Occurred" message stopped appearing, but I still got no connection. I played around a bit by uninstalling everything and reinstalling. Now I get the error message again.

Someone suggested to me that it might be a conflict with MS ActiveSync as I have a PDA which I sync using Activesync 3.8. I don't think that it should be conflicting as I have tried disabling ActiveSync and still have the same problems with the phone.

So my conclusion is this problem has something to do with the COM port that the phone is connected through. Perhaps there is a setting in one of those "secret" phone menus that determines the COM port.

One thing I would be interested to try would be to use a USB->Serial adaptor plug on my USB cable to connect using a direct Serial port instead of a USB emulated one. I dont know however where i can get such a thing.

If anyone tries anything further please let me know.

I've just received my new D600 after my Nokia went odd! I'm on T-Mobile and it arrived the other day.. I have spent the past few days tryin to get this damn thing to sync with the software but NO!
I will say though, that BEFORE I tried Mobile Master as an alternative, I COULD get the phone to connect but NOT perform any address book sync!!
I suspect that Mobile Master is to blame for the Phone Error message I now get if I try to connect via USB with PC Studio 3!!
And yes.. I have fully removed both PC Studio (Drivers too) AND Mobile Master and re-installed the Studio and I can't get a damn thing..
I'll be on the phone tomorrow to T-Mobile and Samsung UK to try and get this cr@p sorted..

I can assure you that Mobile Master has absolutely nothing to do with your Phone Error message as I have never had any such program installed.

If you contact Samsung UK they will tell you a bunch of completely stupid things to try and eventually they will tell you that you have to send your unit in for repair, and if they don't find anything wrong with it you pay for the shipping.

I guarantee you they will ask you if you have the right kind of cable (you most definitely do), then they will ask you if you have antivirus and if it's updated (wtf this has to do with a phone error i do not know), then they will tell you to reinstall everything in a slightly different way which will make no difference, then they will tell you to get the latest version of PC Studio off the net which will again not work, and finally they will ask you to install the phone on another PC and see if it works (it will not). After that they will tell you to send it in for repair.

I am so annoyed at them it's not even funny.

Well I eventually took my phone back to my service provider and threw my toys telling them to take it back and format the whole thing and re-install the software. Of course, if you haven't backed up your contacts etc this could be a problem. Still can;t access certain days in the calendar but at least I can sync again with PC Studio. Not even daring to try Mobile Master again. It's complete CR@P that I had to do it this way but at least the problem is solved. Just hope it doesn't bomb out again.

[quote="AstarothCY"]"..If you contact Samsung UK... then they will tell you to get the latest version of PC Studio off the net which will again not work..."

Well, how odd! I contacted Samsung UK and guess what.. I was told that whatever I do I MUST NOT install the internet version!!?? I was even told to remove any trace of it from my drive!! I was then asked to re-install from the CD.. of course there's no change and I'm now waiting for them to call me back!! Oh yes, the phone call was yesterday!!

Hmmm... My patience is now wafer thin!
