I have a question, if you buy the data cable will you be able take songs from your computer and put them on your phone? I tried many different ways to send song to my phone without the data cable but i think the song has to be qcp or midi and i cant figure out how to change it to that

Search for "v276" in the Motorola Talk forum. There are a few different threads on how to get your own ringtones into the phone. Some people say it works, and others don't.
As far as I can tell, the USB cable will allow you to get into the phone and remove wallpapers and tones (to free up some space) but not much else. Someone correct me if that is inaccurate.
I just ordered the same phone, so come next week I'll be going through the same thing. FYI, there are some interesting bonuses that are included with USB data cables on ebay, you may want to check those out as well.

For the fortunate members of CDMA networks that upgraded to the V276 over the V265 I do believe yes, you can put mp3 ringers on it. So if you get the cable and the latest MPT, you should be able to begin crafting your very own mp3 ring tones.

Hmm, I wonder how long someone with no experience at attempting such feats would fare at an attempt. It's a high-stakes wager from what I've heard.
On the other hand, is the difference between MP3 quality and the converted-to-.qcp-then-renamed-.mid ringer? In other words, is it worth the trouble in your opinion?

Well, all you need is simple.. USB data cable, the newest version of MPT assuming it handles the V276 (ill back check that for you), then you need a few tools to cut and convert the mp3's, no highstakes really, just some patience, and after the first time you do it, it becomes more and more rythmatic.

Wow, I could not type at all yesterday
Will I notice the difference between the .qcp/.mid ringer, and an mp3 ringtone? Just how much will the USB/MPT approach get me? I am a bit skeptical paying $30-40 for only a minor increase in ringtone quality. (I'll probably do it anyway)
And yes, let me know if MPT is worth the effort for this phone. Can it make ringtones any easier/cheaper (avoiding the emails to vzwpix) for the v276?
Sorry for all the questions, maybe I should wait until I've experimented with the phone more.

Well, as far as I can see, they'll probably relate the V276 with the V265 skin for awhile. But it should work, and the mp3 over midi ringers is a huge difference. Midi is just polyphonic chords, and mp3 is just like what you listen to on the computer. Much better quality of sound, and fun to make your own ringtones on the computer as well.

As I understand it, I can send midi files to my phone by converting them to the proper format/file size, and then emailing them.
AFAIK, you can not add mp3 ringtones through the USB data cable. True or false? Many posts I've read say that it's no problem getting the mp3 onto the phone, but that it will not allow you to "set as ringtone".
Could someone clear up this confusion?

Supposedly the V276 accepts mp3 ringers, they may not end up being able to be very many big ones, but the point is that it says it accepts it. You should try it at least I guess.

Has anyone had any luck with getting an mp3 file to work as a ringtone on this phone? hmmm.
