hey all, i'm hoping, and sure that most of you could help me out...maybe elmo 'cause he'll know directly what I'm talking about.
I don't know much, and i'm wondering...when we place an order through CUP, a lot of phones are debranded. is this debranding any different than what many people try and do themselves? and why would we send out debranded phones?
and how exactly is debranding different than unlocking? can a debranded phone still be locked to provider?
thanks for the help. sorry if this has been answered before, but i haven't seen exactly what i'm looking for.

Debranded phones are no different then branded phones as far as carrier lock goes. They just dont the providers startup/shutdown animation, shop links or advertisments (wallpapers) all throughout the phone. Unbranded doesnt mean unlocked, anyone was unbrand a phone themselves with cable and s/w

the "debranded" models in Siebel are still sim locked...the ATT logos were removed from the phones and software they say MY NETWORK until the IRDB completely dloads
also from what I have gathered the software in the debranded V180 is slightly different
