I am an old ATT customer and just bought an unblocked V3 Razr.
It shows roam mode even in my home area.
Also, I read that Cingular will charge users of unblocked phones roaming charges...Help! I want to use my new phone but not if have to pay roaming charge penalties...

Wirelessly posted (Gizmo: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/hspr-H102; Blazer/4.0) 16;320x320)
check your plan. if you sign up with a national plan versus regional, you won't be charge for roaming regardless the phone shows the roam icon. to be safe call your provider to verify.

I bought a pink razr v3 and it is always in roaming mode. Is there any way to get it out. It will not allow me to connect to the internet either.
Thanks

thats becaust all the settings in the phone are for t mobile so when your on cing towers it will say your roaming, as far as internet you need to go to motorolas web site to get the wap setting because once again t-mobile phone - tmobile settings

The phone is unlocked. I got the internet to work. But I still have the roaming triangle. It has nothing to do with tmobile.

if you are on a national plan you will not be billed roaming...its the rate plan that determines roaming charges... not the phone... does cingular know you changed your phone?.... if not call customer care and have your IMEI updated... call from a landline with phone in hand

the only thing unlocking the phone does is allow it to read other sim cards its not like you flexed it, all the programing in it is still set up to work on tmobiles network

I have Cingular and an unlocked Samsung SGH D500. It always reads Cingular Extend, but I don't get charged for roaming. I did call to check when I saw that though.
Don't assume that because a person has an unlocked V3 Razr that it is setup for T-Mobile. It may be a european phone. They laugh at us about all this phone locking. My phone was setup to access Telia when I purchased it in Sweden.
