I actually joined yesterday (8th Sept. 2003) and started using right away without doing this intro bit. I'm from Jamaica (that small Caribbean island where Bob Marley comes from) and recently our two major mobile carriers introduced GPRS. One (Digicel - the new kid on the block) started out a few years ago with a GSM network. Cable&Wireless (the old company) has been TDMA for about 10 years and has now introduced GSM. I'm with Cable&Wireless and recently purchased a Sony Ericcson T316 GSM/GPRS and I want to be able to take advantage of all the possibilties. I especially want to ensure that the phone company is not selling us short in anyway (I'm particularly interested in Firmware versions in the phones based on my reading so far).
I look forward to learning a lot from you guys world wide and to offer any information I can on this technology which is new to my island.
