My cousin's friend is selling a Motorola Rzor V3 for a very reduced price and said that this phone was his, and was just needing cash. I havesome doubt about it and how would I know if he's selling me a stolen phone? I googled around and found the IMEI database for the UK. Is that database applicable for the US ? If not, do we have one in the US similar to that site? Thanks!

no...there isn't an imei database for stolen phones. the only database is for ESN's

sorry, but no...it only gives info on that for tdma phones. the razr is a gsm phone, so it won't give any info for and IMEI.

so I guess the best thing to do is just not buy it if im not sure. He's sellng it for $100. -- good price for the phone -- but I guess my risk is high too, huh. Friends tell me that I would not get in trouble, but I'm not sure either.

as far as i know, you cannot get in trouble, as GSM phones are not tracked. i guess it depends what kinda vibe you get from the guy...

you can call a provider in the UK and have them check and IMEI.

The black-listed IMIE database for uk has been running for years. I have been using it myself for a very long time ( 5 years +). It is a self-automated system.
Ok ..... the number to call is 07956-125-820
This number is for T-Mobile, But rember the network providers shair this information.
