icon_cry.gif We have had verizon wireless for a little less than a year now. Overall, I am very pleased with my camera phone and the reception I get basically everywhere but in my home. And yes, I have updated the programing on my phone just as they told me to do every 30 days. At first I just thought it was something about the house, but since my son has Cingular and gets great reception throughout my house and my father is w/Sprint and he gets fair reception - I've come to the conclusion that it is my carrier and not my house. I had planned on getting rid of the home phone altogether - but unless I want to go outside I've had to keep the home phone. I went with Verizon mainly because of the "Can You Hear Me Now?" thing - and for the most part I can - it is just really very hard to handle when everyone else can get reception in here BUT Verizon.... Any idea's how I can get out of the 2 yr contract and switch over to Cingular where I know I could get "in home" reception? icon_cry.gif

Well, you can always get out of your contract by paying the early termination fee. I think its still $175 dollars. I hope Cingular works for you... It didn't for me. It was a nightmare!!!!

I got verizon too. I hate how greedy they are, but the reception is great enough that I put up with it. Before you spend 175 dollars on a termination fee, go to a Verizon store and see if you need a firmware update. If you don't, then terminate the contract. But if you do, then get the update and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then get cingular or somebody else.

Thanks for your reply - I'll try the firmware update thing before I pay the $175....or just stick it out.
I heard something about celltradeusa.com where you can maybe find someone willing to take over your contract - if all else fails I may check into that...

This is to "stuckintexas". Yes, you can get out of your Verizon contract now. WHY? You may not have noticed, but your bill has gone up? They started to charge a hidden fee that wasn't there when you signed up. It may only be $0.40, but this is what can get you out. What does this mean? You can call Verizon and tell them that you do not except this fee and they will let you out of your contract without the $175 early cancellation fee. There has been several customers that have done this. Good Luck?

Hey crbarry,

Thnks soo much for the info - every bill I've gotten has been different since I was paying for pix msg. but I've gone over this months bill, and could it be the .40 listed as Administrative Charge? There are so many chrgs/taxes to tell the truth I've never kept an eye on it, since I don't understand what any of them are really for. I don't have a copy of the previous bills to figure out the "new" hidden chrg! Any more info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again....maybe not "stuckintexas".

If I'm not mistaken, the $0.40 change = get out of your contract, expired on 10/31.

However, my wife and I had the same model phone last year. I had great reception, she could get a signal in the house. She went through two more Nokia 3589i phones before they gave her a Samsung. It's a pain, but if you are persistent, they will take care of you.

the reason for that .40 get out is because anytime they make a change to your account, thy give you 30 days to either accept it, or terminate the contract without a penalty...so it depends when they first added it. the 850mhz band that cingular operates on is what gives the in-building penetration a boost. that's mostlikely why your son gets reception.

plus, if you can get out of verizon, you cuold go on a family talk plan with your son and it would be cheaper than paying for two individual lines.

Hey stuckintexas... it maybe a little too late but it maybe your phone. My cousin has an LG8100 phone and he has trouble getting reception in his house. I had a Samsung and it got good reception in his house.
