So I got my verizon account set up in early october. Shortly after that we moved into a new appartment and we do not have a landline (it isn't a possability right now) I am also 8 months pregnant and on bedrest (they lie you are pregnant for 10months I am due Jan 4th). So when I found this out I went to the verizon store and upgraded my plan and got my number fixed (the first time they gave me a long distance #)
Well I have come to find out (after the 15 day trial period) That I get little to no (98% of the time no) reception at our appartment. Yesturday my boyfriend and his brother got their phones upgraded and they both worked at least 75% better than my phone or his previous phone. His last phone was an older LG and I have the LG5200. I also received and email telling me to come in and I could get the same phone they both got for 50... Stupid me didn't download the attatched cupon and read the fine print... I should have known better....
I went to the store at 3pm today. The man told me flat out that he could swap my phone for the same phone but he didn't think that it would change a thing since i have tried to get service upgraded (calling and that 288 or whatever it is) I Told him about my boyfriends phone an my brothers. He told me to try customer service.... I steped outside and things got ugly. The supervisor I spoke to basically called me stupid for thinking that my phone should work inside my apparment that they dont guarentee that. That hers doesn't work in HER appartment. She had me in tears. I told her I didn't want a free phone that i was willing to pay a fee or whatever I had to. Finally after the second time she called me stupid I hung up and went back into the store.
Where I was for another two hours. I told them I had no problem with my current phone but I NEED a phone that works in my appartment. I finally told them I was willing to pay for the entire phone which was almost 300 dollars and they said they would give me 25% off. I told them I couldn't pay it all today, that I could pay 100 today and then if they could bill me the rest... They said fine not a problem! I felt so much better knowing that I was going home with a phone that worked! Or that I was going home in general. Then the computers went down... So I waited another 45 minutes. I found the lady to ask if I could use their restroom and she told me that I would have to pay the full 300 that day because I hadn't been with the company for 6 months!
I was at Verizon for FOUR hours and they didn NOTHING for me! I still can't use my phone from my apparment (even on the balcony and that isn't inside!)
I tried to call customer service to complain and the guy basically said too bad. They paid their csr however much an hour to keep in that god damn store for FOUR hours and they did nothing to help! Who do I talk to!?

If you are willing to pay 300 dollars for a phone why not pay the 170 dollar termination fee and find a better carrier. Hope things work out.

If you still stay with verizon, try calling customer service again. I had a Motorola V60 that got absolutely no reception. The first CSR said oh well. The 2nd said to go to the store. The 3rd said I could get a new phone in 2 months. And the 4th said she could give me a 75 dollar credit towards a purchase of a new phon at a two year price. It just takes some screaming and determination. Remember that you have control of the conversation, dont ask for advice, tell them you want a new phone immediately. I honestly think there deaf so when you scream they will hear. GOOD luCk!

Screaming into a customer service rep's ear that could care less about whether your service works or not, is NOT a good idea. I know you may have tried being patient, but honestly it's a roll of the dice as to whether or not you get a CSR that will put up with ignorance. There are more mature and professional ways to get your point across, regardless of the situation.

PS, No one should feel as if they "control" anything but if it must be said, the CSR has control of the conversation. They are the ones that are being called for help, they are the ones that can hang up and leave YOU calling back in just to wait on hold and start the cycle over again.

being one of those people (not for your carrier tho)
yes we do tend to steer the conversation... we do listen and assist where possible..the ones that hang up are ready for dimissal and probabaly will be shortly..
be advised we are human too... dont like to be yelled at for a situation we didnt create but have to deal with...
my only advice is remain calm and cool... and a lot more will be accomplished

I agree with elmo (because i'm in the same centre) and with 0oOmobile0oO.
my suggestion would be to call customer care and ask to cancel your service. what they'll mostlikey do is transfer you to a dept. that will offer special things to keep you. if they don't, cancel and pay the termination fee. then you can sign up with cingular and get a free phone.
cingular's buyer's remorse is longer than any other provider being 30 days. you should know in that time if it works or not. if it doesn't, just send everything back and only pay for the usage.
and congratulations. you must be very exited.
