How do upgrades work at cingular??? I called in last night to Customer service and was told that the eiarlist that you can upgrade you phone is at 18months if you signed a 2 year (24month) contract. I signed up in May 2004. So accorging to the 18month limit I should be eligible last month in November. One of my lines did become eligiable hoever the other line that I purchased/activated the SAME day in May 04 dose not become eligible until Feb 06??? The explination that the lady gave me was that there was a srew up on the number that was eligible and that niether phone should have been eligible but she also told me that I should be able to upgrade after 18 months?
Anybody know OFFICIALY how upgrading works with cingular??

No the only "change" i made was to buy new phones from a cingular store at full price some time earlier this year. I did also change the plan as far as adding and removing Media Net a couple time through out the planI never signed a new contract though.
The lady on the phone last night said that she didn't show anything on the account that would have changed the eligibilty date on either phone.

I was told it was a 21 month period you had to wait for a 2 year contract...though that was a fiasco which ended up with me getting 2 z520s for free...speak with a supervisor...or send an email to one of the higher ups through the website...I've had very good luck leaving a message at the store for a regional rep to call...quite quick turnaround for me...best of luck...

it is usually 21 months of a 24 month contract. check to see if your contract is signed, if not, it can be reverted, making you eligible for upgrades.

recently the contract commitment rule 31 of 24 or 11 of 12 months was quashed... 1 dec to be exact...frmr att cust can now migrate to cingular regardless of contract length... not sure if this capability has reached the stores yet but call centers do have the capability with a Manager override...

For the past couple of years, the official policy on upgrades is that you can do an upgrade 21 months into a 24 month agreement, and 11 months into a 12 month agreement. I've never heard of being able to do an upgrade at 18 months. They will occassionally allow you to do an "exception upgrade" after 12 months of service under certain circumstances.
