I have an odd question. I had a Nokia phone and I broke it. My boss gave me a mot v551 that was at&t. Now it asks for a subsidy code. I have talked to cing, mot, and att. The only advice I was given was to search here on the net that is how I found you folks with your handy web site. If you can help me to solve this I would thank you greatly.

now i'm confused
why do some unlocking services require physical phone to be sent to them when we can just unlock without additional hardware?

actualy I found that you can contact the service provider and if you get someone who is not new they will submit a form based off of the "imei" num and provide you with a code that is phone specific for free. The catch is though that you only have 5 tries to get it right or the phone will lick you out of the system for good.

even if that rep is new, the order won't be processed because it gets submitted to another department who reviews the account and the situation. they won't grant it if you're not eligible.

u should walk into a local cell phone shop (not a cingular store or t-mobile store) where they most likely would have service to unlock it somewhere between $10 to $20. You may have to go to more than one stores.
