I searched but couldn't find anything regarding this...

My fiance and I are halfway through a 2 year contract. We each have separate accounts with Cingular. We wanted to turn her plan into a family plan and then add my line to it. When we visited the agent near our house we were told that we couldn't do that without signing up for another 2 year stint. Is this correct or should I be going to an actual Cingular store?

Yep, they are. We both got our phones directly from a Cingular agent. The agent we visited regarding changing the plans never looked at our sims.

When you move process a Transfer of Service, if, under a 24 month commitment, you have less than 12 months remaining, the contract's extended out by 12 months from the day of the transfer. A full contract extension is required if you change your rate plan.

If you see no contract differences, then the representative who handled this either a). didn't do anything, b). or did do something; either way, it's in your favor.
