ONE QUESTION!!! *** SOOOO CLOSE!
So I somehow figured this out. But when I: >set as > ring tone. The message: Not Supported Content! comes up. How do I fix that?
ALSO: when you find the song through >menu >fun and apps > file manager >memory card >sounds folder, Does the song have a camcorder icon next to it? Another thing, while I'm at the same place, I choose >option > Move to >phone. Then I can't find it?
How do I get it TO the phone's memory. I currently have it saved on a play list. But whenever I go >menu >fun & apps >file manager >sounds >my sounds (it's not there) OR instead, I go to >memory card instead of >my sounds, and it's still not there?
I guess I lied about it just being one question..tia

Did you use Windows Media player to convert the file instead of just changing the filename??? If not do that, that is how I got mine to work.
Phones memory is through menu, fun and apps,, file manager. Right here is your phones memory. Then go into sounds, and the use right or left to go over to my music. All your ring tones are copied there.
Are the clips on either your card or the phone? If not use the samsung software to get them on.

1) when you are in the folder with the mp3 in it, go to Tools >> Folder Options >> click the View tab >> UNCLICK "Hide Extentions for known File Types".
2) Click Apply >> Ok (the mp3 file should know have a .mp3 after it for example" song.mp3")
3) Right click the mp3 files >> Rename>> it will know let you chnage the name. change the last three lettes, the mp3, to "3gp" and click off the song. itll confirm it. then you are done converting. |
^^ That was what I did...

They are on the memory card (the SD). Do when I'm in the SD memory, should I:
a. Copy to
b. Move to
..If I want to move it to my phone. Setting it as a ring tone right away does not work.

Hey Guys I found a much easier way to set the file as a ring tone. This requires no file changing or moving simply follow the steps below:
Menu
Settings
Sound Settings
incomming call
Ring Tone
(scroll to the ring tone you want that is a full MP3)
Hit Select (the Red dot that would normally come up showing the file is selected will not display)
hit back
hit save button
go back into incloming call and MP3 will be saved.
I actually found this by accident but it does work.
It will also use a ful size MP3 file. Good Luck!!

OMG thanks for that info!! it worked perfect haha smamsung/tmobile tried to be slick and trick us!! yeah the 3gp format sounded horrible when compared to the mp3 at least for me. 1 question when I do use the mp3 as a ringtone can I keep it on my trans card or do I have to transfer it to my phone? I just got the phone yesterday so mabey I will mess around with it some more but if any of you guys/gals know let me know. thanks.

Thanks so much for the info, I was getting worried about having to convert files, specially when bluetooth sharing MP3 files with other brand cell phone users.
My question is: WHAT CAN I DO TO ASSIGN AN MP3 RINGTONE TO A PHONEBOOK ENTRY?
I tried doing the same of exiting and saving but does not work...
If anyone knows the help is appreciated.

ok here is what I found out about adding mp3 files to our "easy" NOT!! phones..... I also have the same one (SGH-T809)
i found out how to make your own ringtones on your phone
but it takes a little work, and you have to cut the file size down
you have to first rename the file on your laptop from .mp3 to .3gp, then you have to move it on the storage card
and it should work, samsung locked this feature and only allows .mp3 files with the proper DRM signature ie, ringtones you download from their website
but theres a way around it,
let me know if you guys can do it!!
