I am truly frustrated with this phone. We just got our phones. I have read over and over again on how to put MP3 files on my phone. I have converted them to 3gp... I have dragged files to the music file... I have tried and tried.. and want to throw the phone out the window.....
OK.. you all know how tired I am of trying.....
Can someone help me? I am think I need someone who will start from step #1 to figure this out. Everything I do does not work.
I have questions that I don't see answered on here... like.
1 - what is mass storage for?
2 - do you have to be clicked on modem in USB settings to download the 3gp files?
3 - do you save the file to file manager ... or mp3 under fun and applications?
4- do I save them to memory card? and than save to memory.. or copy to memory?? and move in... or move here.. what is the difference..
GOSH.. do I need to get a TMOBILE man to come over for dinner... and trap him for hours... and have him teach me??
HELP!!!!
Lady in need of HELP!!!!

Menu
Settings
Sound Settings
incomming call
Ring Tone
(scroll to the ring tone you want that is a full MP3)
Hit Select (the Red dot that would normally come up showing the file is selected will not display)
hit back
hit save button
go back into incloming call and MP3 will be saved.
I actually found this by accident but it does work.
It will also use a ful size MP3 file. Good Luck!! |
Hey guys, that worked for me as well and much easier. Thanks! |
Hey,
I too have the t809 and i just got it today, i tried changing the filename to .3gp..i've converted it using a converter and I've successfully put the files on my phone but when i assign/set as a caller id ringtone or ringtone in general it does not play any sound. It is silent when i am recieving a call...?
I heard about the whole DRM deal with the mp3s but i really don't want to have the whole mp3, i just want the chorus to a couple of songs, I have the songs clipped and everything but I don't know how to put them on there bc when youput mp3s it's "grayed out". I don't understand the whole selecting back and it will be saved deal...please i need help and i'm new to this whole deal so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

neil125, the way you converted the mp3 to 3gp is the best way. It works on all options. Wow! now I love this phone. One thing. YOu could only transfer the 3gp to the folder name on the phone "other files". After that, move that file to sounds. That way, you would be able to set that ringtone as rington for a contact or a group or whatever you would like. THANK YOU neil125!!!!

Converted the mp3 to 3gp, even got it on the phone and I found. I go to set it to ring tone, and it asked if i want to copy it to the phone, I say yes and then I get a error "no entry"
WTF??? I am really lost and really getting fraustrated at this
THanks

Hey, so I just got my phone a few days ago and have been struggling with it. I've tried all the various methods posted in this forum and haven't been able to get any of them to work.
Are there any details maybe you have taken as given that perhaps I don't know about? For instance, my WMP doesn't have any option to convert the file, all I can do is save as and make it a 3gp.
When I change MP3 file names to 3gp it is listed as 3gpp content and a Quicktime player icon appears. The phone software does not let me load these files into the music or video files on the phone despite the fact that they both say they support 3gp files.
Anytime I load files into the "other files" folder, the phone doesn't let me do anything with them.
I really want to figure out how to do this. Can anybody help?

First, I did exactly what neil125 wrote. I am pasting it here
1) when you are in the folder with the mp3 in it, go to Tools >> Folder Options >> click the View tab >> UNCLICK "Hide Extentions for known File Types".
2) Click Apply >> Ok (the mp3 file should know have a .mp3 after it for example" song.mp3")
3) Right click the mp3 files >> Rename>> it will know let you chnage the name. change the last three lettes, the mp3, to "3gp" and click off the song. itll confirm it. then you are done converting.
After that.
1) I downloaded my song.3gp to the folder name "other files" in my phone.
2) I moved the file to my memory card/music.
3) I moved my 3gp from my memory card into the phone folder my music or music.
After that, I was able to do anything I wanted. If you could edit the mp3 (make it about 30 sec or one minute) b4 changing it into a 3gp, it would be better. Let me know how you do!
the 3gp may not play in some applications in your computer. Winamp plays them without a problem

Is it possible to set a downloaded MP3 as a ring tone for receiving messages because that doesn't even seem to be possible?
